Assigned political duties well fulfilled at Binh Duong provincial Association of Veterans

In the afternoon of June 29, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Standing Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial People's Council, had a working session with the provincial Association of Veterans. Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Standing Member and Head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization and Chairman of the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee.

According to the report of the provincial Association of Veterans, 9 upper-level associations and 102 grassroots associations are currently with more than 15,000 members. Cadres and members are exemplary, strictly abide by the guidelines and lines of the CPV, policies and laws of the State, and well perform their civic obligations in their places of residence.

The Association has built 91 grassroots law education and propaganda clubs ;and, 427 members are public opinion collaborators and propagandists. Currently, 3,758 members are participating in committees and authorities at all levels. Associations at all levels regularly capture public opinion and coordinate with departments, branches, mass organizations, and the Fatherland Front Committees to well perform social supervision and criticism; to actively participate in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, negative phenomena and social evils.

From the beginning of the year, the association has helped people affected by natural disasters with VND 378 million, VND 161 million for the Poor Fund, VND 176 million for Learning Promotion Fund, and nearly VND 3 billions for other charitable activities. The association's internal fund helps each member develop their household economy by lending interest-free or low-interest loans with a total outstanding balance of more than VND 30 billion each to more than 2,000 member households, creating jobs for nearly 2,800 workers. The association also built 2 new houses of solidarity for 2 members with accommodation difficulties, each worth VND 80 million.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vo Van Minh highly appreciated the results achieved by the provincial Association of Veterans in recent years. At the same time, he also suggested that the association should pay more attention to the development of specific action plans of the Executive Committee to implement the resolution of the provincial Party Congress; the movements of the association need to closely follow the political tasks and specific situation of the locality; associations at all levels in the province need to join hands more in the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic.
