Attackers killed in continued clashes in Myanmar

Monday, 14/11/2016

A total of 25 attackers were killed in clashes as the Myanmar’s troops conducted clearance operation in the southern state of Rakhine, reported Myawaddy, the country’s militant media.

Dozens of armed insurgents set fire to 130 houses in villages of Mayintaung, Pwintphyuchaung, Gwason and Dargyizartaung near Maungtaw town before fleeing.

An earlier report revealed one commissioned officer and one soldier of the government’s security forces died and some others injured in clashes on November 12 in Maungtaw and Yathedaung areas.

A series of clashes came after an attack by armed militants on three border posts on November 9, killing nine policemen and five soldiers.

Myanmar authorities were of the view that extremists involved in attacks with financial support from foreign terrorist groups.
