August Revolution highlighted

Update: 22-08-2011 | 00:00:00

66 years have passed since Vietnam’s historical autumn of 1945. With aspirations for independence and freedom, the entire population rose up to struggle for national independence under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.

Vietnam’s August Revolution marked the collapse of old colonialism in the world and set an example for other colonized countries in Asia and Africa to revolt against their regimes.

September 2, 1945 was  one of the most important milestones in Vietnamese history when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

On the occasion of the August Revolution, major daily newspapers ran editorials highlighting the great significance of the revolutionary victory, which led to the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first independent State of workers and peasants in Southeast Asia.
