Automatic water spraying system: low cost, high gain

In recent year, orchard famers have been applying automatic spraying system to facilitate great yield. On one occasion to orchards in Tan Dinh, Hieu Liem of Tan Uyen District, we had our chance to witness such system applied by Mr. Le Van Xe, an old age farmer who said that 90% of area in his orchard is covered by the said water spraying system. For 10 hectares of pomelo, he paid out VND 180 million to build one system with main pipe, valves, and 5-m round spray sprinklers. Averagely, he put 250-300 sprinklers per hectare to be powered by a 1.5HP electric water compressor in service of about 2 hours a day.

  Spray sprinklers are effective for watering wide area of land

It is expected that the system can boost up 300-400% of effectiveness comparing to manual watering. Thus, the system helps reduce cost.

“I have used such system for over 3 years. Previously, I had to hire tens of workers to water my 20-hectare orchard but now I only need 3 worker for such work,” said Mr. Lam Thanh Tham – an orange plantation owner in Hieu Liem.

Beside from saving costs of hiring more people, the system can cover 100% of the areas need watering.

New way of watering has also helped improve yields of plants far higher than traditional watering methods.

Thus, to gain high yields, farmers should invest to modern scientific advances and technology.
