After 10 years of new rural construction implementation, Bach Dang Island (BDI) of Tan Uyen district developed considerably due to unification of local government, people and timely guidance of authorities.One noticeable change of BDI is completed concrete asphalted traffic system and some new spacious building projects. The completed traffic system of Bach Dang island meets people’s needs of travelling, trading Nguyen Huu Tam, a young cadre of Bach Dang commune, said: “As a son of this island, I can realize the development of my homeland. In the past, moving around the island was difficult. Instead of muddy country lanes to school in the past, the roads now are asphalted. The new constructed Bach Dang bridge has shortened the time of travelling from the island to municipal center and contributed to the socio-economic development of BDI”.The infrastructure such as systems of power, traffic, school, station and some social welfare projects have been gradually finished. Some criteria have high results are ratios of households using power, clean water, telephone… Besides, people cooperated actively with local government in program implementation through contribution of lands, properties on lands… Therefore, roads are currently clean, beautiful; cultural life of people is improved. The new spacious, modern culture center of Bach Dang commune  The economic restructuring towards service increasing, agricultural decreasing, has improved people’s income, which raised ratio of wealthy households, lessened poor ones.To recover the traditional pomelo orchards, farmers of BDI have been assisted in new varieties, fertilizers, technologies… Thus many pomelo orchards are growing well and have high outputs. Notably, the new model of collective pomelos has been an excellent mean to expand the market of Bach Dang pomelo. In addition, producing safe vegetables is a potential model bringing high yield crop in the future.Chairman of Bach Dang commune People’s Committee Mr. Pham Van Hoang said: “After liberation, Bach Dang was an agricultural commune having poor roads, low people’s living standard… Without the caring of authorities and the new rural construction program, it would not have these changes, achievements. We have been promoting to exert successfully programs of scio-economic development in the future”.As one main commune applied provincial new rural construction program, Bach Dang commune were supported timely by governors of all levels in order to combine agricultural accompanied by ecological development so that it can bring into play an island’s advantages. Mr. Hoang stated: “In the near future, we attempt to consolidate pomelo orchards’ quality as well as widen pomelo growing areas.
