Ban Cat city’s Labor Union realizes solutions to support workers

Update: 25-10-2024 | 11:14:00

Ben Cat city’s Labor Union manages 179 trade union locals with nearly 32,000 workers, just from enterprises outside industrial parks. To help workers and their families stabilize their lives, the local authorities at all levels have worked closely with the city’s Labor Union to implement a variety of measures to take care of workers’spiritual and material lives.

For cases with extremely difficult circumstances, the city's Labor Union has actively coordinated with provincial Labor Union and leaders of the city to ensure comprehensive care. An example from August involved T.T.P. (from the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh), a worker at Vinh Nghia Shoe Co., Ltd., who passed away from a stroke and heart failure, leaving behind a newborn child just over one week old. Her family was in extreme financial hardship as her husband did not have a stable job. In response, Ben Cat city’s Labor Union together with the company’s management, raised over VND 80 million to support her family. Leaders of the city contributed VND 5 million from a fundraising source. Provincial Labor Union provided additional VND 10 million from the fund for workers with extremely difficult circumstances. Local authorities also mobilized the company’s directorate to provide her husband with a stable job.

Along with material support, local authorities and each trade union local have regularly organized sports events, performances, Mid-Autumn festival celebrations for workers' children and programs, namely “Trade Union Meal”, creating healthy playgrounds for workers.
