Basic salary increase to promote teachers’ devotion

Update: 12-07-2024 | 14:54:16

The government has issued Decree No. 73/2024/ND-CP on June 30, 2024, regulating the basic salary and bonus regime for officials, civil servants, public employees, and armed forces. Accordingly, starting from July 1, 2024, the basic salary will be adjusted from 1.8 million VND/month to 2.34 million VND/month (an increase of 30%), which has attracted special attention from the public, including the teaching staff. Joy and anticipation are the common psychology of the teaching staff in the province at this time.

Teaching pay improved

According to the new salary reform policy, there are 9 new types of allowances such as: Dual-role allowance, seniority beyond the frame, job responsibility, professional incentives... However, from July 1, due to insufficient conditions, the current types of allowances will continue to be implemented. Therefore, seniority allowances and other allowances for teachers will remain unchanged. According to teacher Nguyen Luong, the teacher's salary has been improved according to the new salary reform policy, with 9 new types of allowances such as dual-role allowance, seniority beyond the frame, job responsibility, professional benefits.

Teaching staff are more attached to the career of higher basic pay

According to teacher Nguyen Thi Luu, Principal of Long Binh Primary School, Bau Bang district: "Increasing the basic salary has made the teaching staff of the school happy and hopeful. Especially, many long-term teachers in the profession also express their joy when their seniority allowances are maintained. With a 30% increase in the basic salary, teachers' income will significantly improve. Thanks to that, they can reduce their financial burden and work with peace of mind."

The Decree No. 73/2024/ND-CP of the Government (effective from July 1, 2024) stipulates that the basic salary will increase from 1.8 million to 2.34 million VND per month. Accordingly, the salary of teachers will increase and the seniority allowance for educators will remain unchanged. With the attention of the Party, the State, and the collective efforts of the whole society, the teaching staff in Binh Duong province in particular, and the whole country in general, will continue to develop, contributing to improving the quality of education and training high-quality human resources for the country.

For teachers, when the basic salary increases, the seniority allowance and preferential allowance also increase accordingly. The specific salary increase for each individual will depend on the position and job performance. From grade 1 to grade 7, teachers' expected salaries range from 4.9 million VND to 15.87 million VND per month, higher than the previous range of 1.13 million VND to 3.67 million VND, excluding allowances.

With teachers, depending on their position and workplace, each person may receive one or several allowances: Seniority allowance (5% after 5 years of work, increasing by 1% each year), professional benefits (25%-50%), position allowance, seniority allowance beyond the framework, special allowances for teachers who are artisans, teachers for disabled people, teachers working in areas with particularly difficult conditions.

To energize the career

These days, the issue that many teachers in the province are most concerned about is the issue of increasing basic salary. Many teachers could not hide their joy when they learned about the increase in basic salary, retaining seniority allowances, and adding many other benefits. This increase in basic salary is a source of encouragement for the teaching staff to have more motivation to work and dedicate themselves to the country's education and training career.

As a young teacher new to the profession, Mr. Vo Viet Tinh, of Ly Thai To High School (Thuan An city), said that his current total salary is about 6.6 million VND, including all allowances. If calculated according to the new salary scale, it will increase by more than 1 million VND. “Increasing the basic salary is synonymous with increasing teachers' income. In my opinion, this is a well-deserved recognition for the efforts of teachers, as well as an important source of motivation for us to continue to unleash our abilities and creativity in teaching. I believe that this change will make the teaching staff love their profession even more and contribute to the development of the education sector,” Mr. Tinh added.

For preschool teachers like Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, at Tuoi Ngoc Preschool (Thu Dau Mot City), despite being dedicated to the "nurturing of children" profession for over 10 years, with the old salary, Ms. Hoa only received a little over 6 million VND/month. With such a salary, she has to be frugal to support her family. Starting from July 1st, the base salary officially increased, along with that, preschool teachers like Ms. Hoa, who are proposed to be labor-intensive and dangerous professions, have brought joy to her and the preschool teaching staff.

Besides the salary increase, our preschool teachers are also hoping for the proposal to recognize the profession of preschool teachers as a labor-intensive and hazardous occupation. As a result, preschool teachers will receive additional allowances and be able to retire at the age of 55, becoming a reality sooner," Ms. Hoa expressed her desire.

Not only teachers, many pedagogy students also feel happy when receiving information about improved teacher salaries after salary reform. Nguyen Thuy Hang, a third-year student majoring in literature pedagogy at Thu Dau Mot University, shares: "As a pedagogy student, I am also regularly interested in issues related to the profession I have chosen. The improvement in teacher salaries is not only good news for the teaching staff but also a joy for the younger generation following in their footsteps. This is also a motivation for us to have faith and determination in pursuing our studies."

It can be seen that wage reform is good news for workers receiving salaries from the state budget in general, and teachers in particular. Increasing the basic salary is an important policy that contributes to improving the material and spiritual life of teachers, motivating educators, attracting talent, and enhancing the quality of education.
