Bau Bang district – the new industrial center

During the fiercest years of the resistance war for national liberation and reunification, the land of Bau Bang with resounding victories forever entered the golden history of building and defending the country of our precedent generations. Continuing the steadfast and indomitable tradition of the fore generation, the Party Committee, the authority and the people in the old land of war are joining hands in unity and with determination for new miracles, bringing Bau Bang to develop continuously and comprehensively and soon become the northern urban industrial center of the province.

The changes in the land of wars

Many times talking with Tran Van An, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Lai Uyen commune (which is now Lai Uyen town) and veterans who lived and fought in Bau Bang, we were told about the harsh but very heroic years in the land. Bau Bang had a strategic position for us and the enemy. This place had Long Nguyen War Zone as well as Road 13 passing through, which was also the area connecting War Zone D and Duong Minh Chau War Zone of Tay Ninh to form a strategic corridor to firmly protect the resistance base. Therefore, the place had become an area of fierce fighting during the resistance wars.

In 1963, in order to ensure the safety of the revolutionary base, special forces, mainly infantry and combined forces were sent out to destroy Cay Truong camp. The victory had encouraged our people's movement to destroy the enemy and break the pincers. Then, in 1965, our army and people won a resounding victory in the battle of the fierce American 1st Division when they swept on both sides of the Road 13 from Lai Khe to Chon Thanh. The Bau Bang victory on November 12, 1965 delighted the army and people of the country and encouraged the South Vietnamese army and people to more engage in emulation to fight the enemy and liberate the homeland. Along with Dau Tieng, Da Nang, and Plâyme, Bau Bang was honorably to be mentioned by President Ho Chi Minh in the poem wishing the Spring 1966. It was forever the pride of the land that marked the resounding victories of the army and our people in the fight against foreign invaders and for national liberation.

The war had receded, the devasted land of Bau Bang is now changing and developing day by day. After 9 years of establishment, irrespective of the remaining challenges from the starting point, Bau Bang has strived to rise up and promote advantages, overcome difficulties to step by step bring socio-economic development continuously and comprehensively under the determination, solidarity and consensus of the whole Party, people and army in the district.

Tran Van Tich, a resident of Tru Van Tho commune, said that in recent years that Tru Van Tho commune in particular and Bau Bang district in general have had a lot of changes. “The new rural face is more and more civilized as the material and spiritual life of the people is constantly improving. The economy of the district is now not only based on agriculture as before, but on a strong transition to the development of industry, commerce, and services," said Tran Van Tich excitedly.

From a purely agricultural district and inheriting the achievements of the previous Ben Cat district, Bau Bang district has focused her wisdom on planning goals, tasks and action programs to effectively exploit the potentials and local strengths to promote socio-economic development quickly in the right direction, especially, in the field of industrial development and attraction of development investment in increasing urbanization speed, contributing to rapidly changing the urban appearance of the district.

The rise from industrialization

The breakthrough mark in economic development of Bau Bang district is derived from the policy of bringing industry to the north of the province. Accordingly, the Industrial Park and Bau Bang urban area was built synchronously and modernly on an area of 1,000 hectares, quickly attracting many investors to invest in production and business. To meet the needs of investors, Bau Bang industrial-urban zone has been approved to expand by 1,000 hectares. Up to now, besides this industrial park, the district has been developing Tan Binh industrial parks, Cay Truong industrial parks, Lai Hung industrial parks with a total area of up to thousands of hectares.

The formation of industrial parks with modern and synchronous investment infrastructure has attracted many domestic and foreign investors to invest in production and business. Industrial parks in the district are becoming more and more attractive to investors when the traffic infrastructure - smoothly connected.

In 2022, despite facing many difficulties in general conditions, with the initiative, flexibility and creativity, the Standing Board of Bau Bang district Party Committee has closely followed the guidelines and directions of the Central Committee, provincial Party Committee, provincial People's Committee, promptly grasped and proposed solutions to implement assigned political tasks and exceeded many planned targets. In which, the value of industrial production reached nearly VND 29,270 billion - an increase of over 20% compared to 2021. One of the bright spots of the district is the activity of attracting investment with many positive results. In the first quarter of 2023, despite the difficult economic situation, Bau Bang district still attracted 5 newly registered foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly USD 15 million on 3 foreign investment projects of increased capital of USD 6.2 million.

Talking to us, Vo Thanh Giau - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bau Bang district, said that in order to exploit the potential and advantages, the locality would soon become an industrial-urban center in the North according to the policy of the province. Over the past time, provinces and districts have always paid attention to investing in transport infrastructure systems, especially connecting traffic between regions and regions, forming a synchronous and smooth connected traffic network, creating favorable conditions in attracting investment and development such as the existing National Highway 13 with a scale of 6 lanes, provincial roads and speedway of DT750, DT749a, DT749c, DT741b, My Phuoc - Bau Bang, district roads have been concreted with 100% asphalted associated with the connection of roads in the industrial park - Bau Bang urban area which is fully invested. "The completion of the connected transport infrastructure system is one of the breakthroughs that have made an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the district over the past time," Vo Thanh Giau affirmed.

Bau Bang will focus on exploiting the advantages to create a highlight for development, expand relations, call for investment to promote rapid development of the industry and lead to the development of trade and service industries. In the immediate future, the district continues to focus on investing in the development of infrastructure systems, building a connected and synchronous transport network with upgrade, expansion and new arterial roads. Attracting and calling for investment in developing high-tech industries, logistics industry, giving priority to the development of inland port transport infrastructure (ICD) as a spearhead to create driving force for development.

Many meaningful achievements have been gained after 9 years of establishment of the district, but to become an urban-industrial center, Bau Bang district will have to make more efforts. Believing that with the tradition of heroic revolutionary struggle and the spirit of solidarity, the Party Committee, the authority, the people and the business community will be determined and make efforts to build Bau Bang homeland of prosperity, civilization, and modernity.
