Becamex IDC signs cooperative agreement with Philips Lighting Group for sustainable lighting development

On Oct 25, a MoU-signing ceremony on the development of sustainable lighting for intelligent Binh Duong City construction between Becamex IDC, Eastern International University (EIU) and Philips Lighting Group (Netherlands) took place at Becamex International Hospital.

Attending the signing ceremony were Mr. Marten Van Den Berg, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Simon Vander Burg, Netherlands Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of Eindhoven city, Braint Port Corporation, Philips Lighting Group; Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of PPC; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Board of Directors’ Chairman, CEO of Becamex IDC; representatives of departments and agencies in the province.

According the MoU, Philips Lighting will provide Becamex IDC with 2,000 LED streetlights with advanced technology, superior performance to installation for an efficient street lighting system; and cooperate with Becamex IDC to pilot a smart street lighting applying CityTouch software.

The two sides also agreed the cooperation between Philips Lighting and EIU to develop ideas as well as provide a significant part of equipment to set up a lab of lighting science located at EIU. Additionally, with the support of Eindhoven Technical University (Netherlands), Philips and EIU will compile a curriculum with practical knowledge on lighting technique for EIU. This will be a nursery garden of engineers owning the best knowledge on lighting, meeting requirements of the market and modern society as well as serving the construction and development needs of Binh Duong smart city.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem asserted that the signing ceremony was an event to further strengthen the friendly relation between Vietnam and the Netherlands, was an important achievement in infrastructure investment to develop a smart city, create an optimal studying and working environment for Binh Duong people. Provincial leaders believed that the signed contents would be implemented successfully, be the foundation for a comprehensive cooperation in various fields between Becamex IDC and Braint Port, Philips to build up Binh Duong as a smart city.
