Update: 23-07-2024 | 12:01:13

On July 22, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Cat City held a memorial ceremony and buried the remains of martyrs of Division 9, Army Corps 4, who died in hamlet 7, Kien An quarter, An Dien ward. Attending the memorial service was former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Minh Triet.

In 1974, Regiment 1 received orders from Division 9 to coordinate with friendly units to simultaneously open fire and attack on Route 7, capturing the posts of Rach Bap, Ri Net, Kien Dien and the "strategic hamlet" of Kien An. This was an important area on the central defense line north of Saigon, northwest of Ben Cat, where the enemy had deployed many forces and organized a solid defense. The battle raged on for 135 days and nights, and it was extremely intense and fierce. Our troops broke an essential segment of the enemy's North Saigon defense line. During those attacks, soldiers of Regiment 1 and Division 9 heroically sacrificed their lives.

At the ceremony, former President Nguyen Minh Triet and delegates took the remains of two heroic martyrs to their final resting place at Ben Cat Martyrs Cemetery.
