Ben Cat develops strongly to become a city

Ben Cat town has traffic axes such as National Highway 13, My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway, DT744 street, DT741 street... flexibly connecting with Southeastern provinces, going through Ho Chi Minh City and central Highlands provinces. This is also one of the country’s localities with many industrial parks and a large number of workers, which is implementing a project turning into a city under the province.

Advantages

According to Ben Cat town’s People's Committee, through the evaluation of the following criteria: population, natural area, structure and level of social development, the rate of poor households, the rate of non-agricultural workers..., communes in the town have basically met standards to be upgraded into wards and the town is qualified to be upgraded into a city. Notably, there are many strong points, making Ben Cat become the province's center for industrial-commercial development, technology transfer and training.

Although in 2022, in the general context, there are still many difficulties and challenges, but with the spirit of determination to recover and develop, the town still ensured socio-economic targets with political security and social safety-order maintained. Accordingly, the town’s economy continued developing rapidly in the right direction. The town’s economic growth was 12.58% at real prices. The town’s total production value increased by 21.3%. The town’s economic structure was shifted towards 72.4% - 27.3% - 0.3% in industrial manufacture - services – agricultural production, respectively.

Also in 2022, Ben Cat town also attracted 730 domestic and foreign investment projects, bringing the total number of the local projects to nearly 6,000 with total investment capital of nearly VND 55,000 trillion and over US$ 9.2billion. In addition, the town focused on implementing solutions to support and develop 632 small and medium-sized enterprises, increasing by 27% over the same period, or 210% compared to the resolution of the local People’s Council.

In 2022, Ben Cat town completed and put a park along Thi Tinh River into use while clearing the flow of the downstream section of Cau Quan canal to Thi Tinh river, upgrading April 30 street from the headquarter of the local Treasury to Cau Quan. In addition, many works, including Ben Cat Exhibition and Convention Center, My Phuoc General Hospital, Ben Cat General Hospital, Vietnamese-German University, electronics centers, restaurants, hotels and banks, were  formed up, meeting people’s needs, contributing to increasing the value of trade - services in the local economic structure. Also In 2022, the town’s total retail sales revenue of goods and services was over VND 64 trillion, up 31% over the same period, or 100.8% of the resolution of the town’s People’s Council.

Towards a smart, modern city

According to leader of Ben Cat town’s People's Committee, the town is on the momentum of rapid economic growth and dynamic urban development. The town has a very favorable geographical position in socio-economic and urban development, is a satellite town of Binh Duong city in the future, with a strategic link with the planning of Ho Chi Minh city, an important traffic hub of the region. That brings the town many opportunities as well as challenges in the current period and in the future.

The town’s whole political system needs to actively and proactively implement a project to improve the quality of the local urban development in the period of 2020-2025 and the following years to strive to build up a smart, modern and sustainable Ben Cat city towards improving the quality of the local people’s life.

Sharing about a plan to implement the project to improve the quality of the local urban development, Nguyen Trong An, Chairman of Ben Cat town’s People's Committee said that the town has focused on developing Ben Cat in a synchronous way on the basis of effectively exploiting resources to achieve criteria of a second-class city, upgrading An Dien and An Tay communes into wards in the period of 2021-2025, creating a solid premise towards building a civilized and modern city in the next period.

Along with that, the town has further focused on implementing and correcting the tasks of restoring urban order, improving spontaneous residential areas; completed criteria on urban development infrastructure to serve as a basis for completing the task of upgrading it into a second-class city under the set plan; enhanced the effectiveness of compensation and site clearance for key projects under the local public investment plan, in association with the disbursement of public investment capital. In addition, the town has continued mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and people to synthesize solutions to implement a program on digital transformation in association with improving the quality of PAR index

It is believed that with their solidarity, the whole Party, people and army of Ben Cat town will join hands in building up a more and more civilized and modern Ben Cat, improving the material and spiritual lives of the local people.
