Ben Cat’s rural region puts on "new shirt"

After 25 years of the establishment of the province, 23 years of the separation of Ben Cat district, especially during the 8-year period since the establishment of Ben Cat town in 2014, the town’s Party Committee has clearly defined key tasks, breakthrough stages, proposed solutions to focus on directing the implementation. With the great efforts by the whole political system, people from all strata and the business community, Ben Cat has so far obtained outstanding and comprehensive results in all fields.

Comprehensive change

From an agricultural district, Ben Cat town has so far become a locality with many changes. The town has gradually improved its local infrastructure system, mobilizing resources for socio-economic development with focus on building a new-style rural program in order to improve the quality of the local people’s material and spiritual lives.

The construction of new-style rural areas has created more conditions for people to invest in economic development with many effective models

Going back to 3 rural communes of BenCat town’s  An Dien, An Tay, Phu An today, it is easy to see that there are a lot of positive changes with comprehensive prosperity in all fields. The proud result is that the per capita average income in 3 rural communes has constantly increased. If the figure in 2012 was only VND19.6 million and it reached VND71 million in 2021.

In 2011, all communes of the district did not meet criteria of the new-style rural construction program. But, rural roads in the ​​​​3 new-style communes of Ben Cat have been built and upgraded so far, ensuring to serve people’s demand for travelling and goods transportation. Currently, 100% of communal-level roads and communal-level roads to the town’s center have been covered with asphalt or concrete, ensuring people’s travelling by car with a total length of 66.3km. Alleys, hamlet-level and inter-hamlet roads there have been covered with asphalt, concrete...

Tran Van Son, a resident in An Dien commune’s An Son hamlet confided: “…From a poor agricultural commune, people's lives that were still limited and difficult, An Dien has to date reached spectacular development in industrial manufacture and services. Since implementing a policy on new-style rural construction, the commune has gained development in rural economy with a traffic system covered with asphalt or concrete along with a lighting system also focused on installation, creating many advantages”.

Nguyen Thi Ha, Chairwoman of Phu An communal People's Committee, shared: "Since the commune has reached criteria of the new-style rural construction program, people's lives have improved with well-built infrastructure. Our staff and people will unite, ensuring to gradually improve the quality of the new-style rural construction criteria achieved over the past years. At present, the commune has many wide concrete roads together with works such as medical station, cultural house, schools ... upgraded and built spaciously at national standards, opportunely meeting the local people’s demand for healthcare, entertainment and learning".

Possible speaking, Ben Cat town’s national target program on new-style rural construction over the past time spread to socio-political organizations and people. The efficiency gained from the construction of new rural areas has not only helped localities tap and uphold the local advantages, but also created a solid basis for improving the quality of social welfare, creating favorable conditions for localities in the town to successfully implement socio-economic development goals and improve people's living standards.

Improving the quality of new-style rural construction

In order to further improve the quality of new-style rural construction criteria for the period of 2020-2025, with a vision to 2030, Ben Cat town’s People's Committee has issued the Plan No. 98 on improving the quality of criteria with many key tasks, including promoting the industrialization and modernization process of agriculture and rural areas in association with restructuring of agricultural production, development of clean agriculture, application of new science and technology to production and acceleration of rural economic restructuring. Implementing construction of new rural areas with comprehensive, sustainable, in-depth development in association with rural urbanization in line with requirements and conditions in the new period, with focus on the program of "One commune, one product", promoting the increase of competitive values ​​of key products, developing the economy in the direction of promoting internal resources and increasing incomes for people while further investing in synchronous socio-economic infrastructure such as roads, dikes, inland waterways, ports...

According to leader of Ben Cat town’s Party committees, authorities, mass organizations at all levels and people in the 3 new-style rural communes have focused on implementing many solutions to maintain and improve the quality of new-style rural communes. In the period of 2021-2025, Phu An commune has continued completing the set of for model new-style rural construction criteria under the regulations of provincial People's Committee. The two communes of An Tay and An Dien have continued maintaining their advanced new-style rural construction criteria while striving to improve the quality of the new-style rural construction criteria to be able to develop into the ward by 2025.

Nguyen Trong An, Chairman of Ben Cat town’s People's Committee said that in order to improve the quality of new-style rural construction in the period of 2020-2025, the town has clearly identified a number of solutions that need to be implemented effectively in the coming time. The local Party committees and authorities at all levels will strengthen the direction in construction; promote the emulation movement of "Joining hands to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas"; take advantage of mobilizing many resources to build important and synchronous socio-economic infrastructure for agriculture and rural areas…

In addition, the town will focus on effectively implementing the State’s support mechanisms and policies with focus on supporting craft villages, households, cooperatives and businesses, thereby replicating the model of making traditional handicraft products in a modern and highly competitive direction, developing key products under the program of "One commune, one product". The town will also invest in developing tourism products towards linking regions with tours, forming up agricultural tourism products in association with sightseeing and experiencing activities at craft villages; focus on building and developing Phu An Bamboo Village so that it can become one of the province’s attractive community tourism sites, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
