Ben Cat strives to become a smart, modern city

Over 2016-2020 period, Ben Cat Town attained outstanding results in investment in the development of technical infrastructure and urban renovation. As a result, Ben Cat was recognized as a class-three urban center in 2018. This has contributed to making the socio-economic infrastructure of the town increasingly comprehensive, creates a strong motivation for Ben Cat urban development in the direction of smart, modern, sustainable city.

To focus on infrastructure investment

During the 2016-2020 period, Ben Cat invested and completed 98/138 key projects of socio-economic technical infrastructure. In addition, the town also regularly made repairs and upgraded 306 roads with a total length of about 251km, total investment capital of about VND 341 billion. The lighting system was invested with 499 lines, the total cost was about VND 100 billion, bringing the total length of lightened roads to about 408km. The technical and transport infrastructure in industrial parks, residential areas, social housing areas was invested and completed comprehensively with total investment of about VND 7,400 billion.

In parallel with the task of technical infrastructure development, urban renovation was also performed by Ben Cat Town and gained important results. In order to continue to develop a civilized, modern, green - clean – beautiful Ben Cat that meets the conditions of a modern satellite city of Binh Duong Smart City in the future, Ben Cat Town Party Committee approved a project to improve the quality of urban renovation in the period 2016-2020 and the following years, ensure the compliance with the master plan of socio-economic development until 2025 and the urban development demand of Ben Cat Town.

To carry out this project, Ben Cat Town invested in strong transport infrastructure that connects smoothly and synchronously with key roads passing through the area, such as Binh Duong Boulevard, DT741, DT744, My Phuoc - Tan Van, Belt Road 4... The inner-city roads are also expanded, such as 30/4, Hung Vuong, Ngo Quyen, 7A, 7B streets for Ben Cat Town to easily connect with industrial parks, urban areas in the south of the province, connect to Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc Province, Central Highlands provinces. In addition, these routes are very important for the socio-economic development process, investment attraction, industrialization, urbanization, securing national defense and security.

According to the town leadership, Ben Cat is on a rapid economic growth, dynamic urban development. The town has a very favorable geographical location in socio-economic and urban development, is a satellite city of Binh Duong city in the future, has a strategic link with the planning of Ho Chi Minh City, is located in the key economic region of the Southeast, an important transport hub of the region. These open many opportunities as well as challenges to Ben Cat in the current and future time. Therefore, the whole political system from the town to the grassroots needs to proactively implement the project to improve the quality of urban development of Ben Cat Town in 2020-2025 and the following years to build a smart, modern and sustainable Ben Cat urban center, aims to improve living standards of people in the area.

To become a modern, civilized city

In 2021-2025 period, Ben Cat strives to meet the criteria of class-two urban center, build modern, civilized, clean and beautiful urban areas, improve living standards of the people. Ben Cat People's Committee issued Plan No. 27 on the implementation of project of improving the quality of urban development of Ben Cat Town in 2020-2025 and the following years.

Talking about the implementation plan of the project to improve the quality of Ben Cat urban development, Nguyen Trong An, Chairman of People's Committee of Ben Cat, said that the town focuses on synchronously developing Ben Cat urban area by effectively exploiting resources to meet the criteria of class-two urban center, upgrading two communes of An Dien and An Tay into wards in 2021-2025 period, forming a solid foundation for building civilized and modern urban areas in the next period. The town will concretize the adjustment of the provincial master plan for socio-economic development until 2020, supplement the planning until 2025; affirm the orientation of Ben Cat urban development towards an urban center with functions of industrial urban - services - transport hub, in which the industry develops towards clean, high-tech manufacture; improve efficiency, quality and ensure the close and synchronous connection between urban planning and development with urban renovation, land management, construction order, urban order.

With these objectives, People's Committee of Ben Cat Town set out task groups and solutions. In terms of technical infrastructure, development of the main urban transport system along the north-south and the east-west axes; rain water drainage in the eastern and western areas of the Thi Tính River; investment in water supply plants concentrated in An Tay commune with a capacity of about 250,000m3/day; accelerating the implementation of two wastewater collection and treatment stations for the town, to plan a number of people's cemeteries. By 2025, the town will build two new 110KV-power stations, including Phu An and Rach Bap stations, and upgrade capacity of the existing My Phuoc 2 station to meet the power demand in the town; develop peripheral cable network infrastructure, mobile information network infrastructure, and employ IT applications, database, shared information for the state management of localities, the demand of people and enterprises, in accordance with planning and architecture, urban landscape and smart urban construction orientation.

In terms of social infrastructure, the town makes investment in the construction of grassroots cultural institutions according to the planning; preservation and renovation of cultural and historical relics ranked in the area and tourism development associated with effective management in cultural historical relics; promote socialization for education facilities, upgrade the healthcare system. On the other hand, the town will focus on planning management, land management, construction order, urban order and urban development...

With the above solutions and the determination of local authorities and people, it is believed that in the next phase, Ben Cat urban area would grow and soon complete the class-two urban center criteria as planned, contributing to the development of Binh Duong in general.
