At present, 35 residential areas in Bến Cát commune with the total area of 2,783 ha are available. Most of the residential areas have been built basically to complete infrastructure and attracting many people to live in. Ben Cat also has many key projects built including the Exhibition and Conference Center, the My Phuoc General Hospital, the Ben Cat General Hospital, and the Phu Dong Kindergarten and Primary School. Along with that, restaurant and hotel services are increasingly formed, meeting the needs of local people, professionals, businessmen, and foreigners working and living there.
Ben Cat also attaches importance to implementing regulations on management of urban planning in the area and investment to fulfill urban technical infrastructure and to build roads to the center of the commune. Since the establishment of Ben Cat district, 92 rural and urban traffic roads have been built. Particularly, for the clearance work of construction projects have been accelerated by the town, such as the project of extended My Phuoc - Tan Van (from road DT741 to road 7B), the project to expand Phu Thu crossroads, projects on electricity infrastructure, water supply and drainage, waste treatment and environmental protection, etc., in order to meet the demands of production and daily life of people in the locality.
Huynh Thu Lap, Vice Chairman of Ben Cat City People's Committee, said the recognition of Ben Cat Town as type-3 urban area that is suitable for the urban development program of the province, meeting the aspirations of the Party and the people of the town. This is an opportunity for the town to continue striving to improve the urban quality in all aspects while at the same time fulfilling its role as a service-industrial and multi-functional center. Up to now, the town has achieved remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and urban development, thereby contributing to speed up the urban development of the province, as well as improving the living quality of the townspeople.
Basically, the status of Ben Cat Town has met the criteria for urban classification as stipulated in Resolution No. 1210/2016/UBTVQH13 dated 25 May 2016 of the Standing Committee of National Assembly on the classification of urban areas, with self-assessment points of 89.14 points, qualified to submit to the Ministry of Construction to appraise and recognize Ben Cat Town as type-locality belonging to Binh Duong province.
