Big significance from small deeds

Excellent-but-poor students enjoy scholarships disbursed from piggy banks.

With the model of raising piggy banks to support poor students, Tan Uyen district-based Huynh Van Nghe high school’s students have known how to use money usefully.

Huynh Van Nghe is one of the high schools having good quality of teaching and learning in the province. Along with the movement of good teaching and learning, the school has over the past time excelled the mobilization on raising humanitarian fund. Phung Kim Thao, a member of the school Red Cross Society Executive Board, said ‘The target of building the humanitarian fund is to solve problems actively’.

With the objective of creating good personality and educating good deeds for students, the society has launched a movement of raising piggy banks, luring the participation of numerous students.

Every Monday morning, the school students take money out of their breakfast allowance to raise piggy banks voluntarily. After a two month raising, money in piggy banks will be contributed to the humanitarian fund. The fund will be used in assisting needy students.

So far, the school has raised a total of over VND78mil from the movement. Thanks to the fund, the school has granted 5 charity houses to 4 needy students and one bodyguard and presented 10 scholarships to excellent-but-poor students.

Regarding the significance of the movement, Thao said that the movement has showed charity and principle of ‘Whole leaves wrap torn leaves’. This is one of ways the school, society and parents educate students about charity and values of the true, the good and the beautiful in life.
