Binh Duong and HCM city study connection and expansion of arterial roads

On the afternoon of February 28, Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee and Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) city People's Committee, co-chaired a working session between the two localities to review the results of bilateral cooperation.

An overview of the working session

At the working session, HCM city People's Committee reported that during the 2023-2024 period, the two localities coordinated to complete several key tasks such as implementing component projects of HCM city’s belt roads 3 and 4, studying the extension of Metro Line 1 to Binh Duong, coordinating the supply of construction materials for component projects under the HCM city belt road 3 project and raising the clearance height of Binh Triệu 1 bridge and Binh Phuoc 1 bridge over the Saigon river.

At the working session, Binh Duong province also proposed several connectivity projects with HCM city, including key projects of expanding and connecting An Binh road to Song Than overpass, upgrading National Highway 13 from Binh Trieu bridge to Binh Phuoc intersection in HCM city, constructing the HCM city - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway and the development of Metro Lines 2 and 3 to enhance inter-regional connectivity.

Speaking at the working session, Mr. Minh commended the efforts by departments and agencies from both localities in addressing emerging issues during the collaboration process. He also emphasized that the province is focusing on investing in key arterial roads to enhance regional connectivity, create a ripple effect, develop a modern and synchronous traffic syste, swiftly resolve congestion on major traffic routes, opening up new opportunities for cooperation,  attracting further investment in the region.

The province will continue reviewing gateway projects that connect Binh Duong with HCM city; focus on assessing and coordinating with relevant units for the implementation of connecting road projects between the two localities while ensuring a stable supply of sand for roadbed construction in key projects across the Southeastern region and the nation.
