Binh Duong and Japan’s Meti Kansai sign MoU on environmental cooperation

Early November 30, provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Department of Economics, Trade and Industry of Kansai Economic Zone in Japan on a cooperation project in the field of environment.

The event was attended by Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Ibuki Hideaki, Head of Kansai Economic Zone’s Department of Economics, Trade and Industry.

At the event, provincial leaders and Meti Kansai exchanged, shared and gave orientations on cooperation and development in the field of economics and trade, especially in environment; signed a MoU on environmental cooperation project. Accordingly, based on the MoU, the two sides will closely work to solve problems on ecological environment in general and industrial environment in particular.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ibuki Hideaki hoped that after completing the signing of the MoU, the two sides will have a specific roadmap on the implementation of cooperation plans. He also said that businesses in the Meti Kansai ecosystem are full of modern solutions and technologies, well solving Binh Duong's environmental problems.

Mr. Dung said the purpose of the MOU signing ceremony was to identify and note the contents of cooperation between Binh Duong province and Meti Kansai. He added that over the past time, the two sides organized many promotion activities, including organizing dialogues, seminars, surveys...As a result, the two sides have identified their main cooperation content, which is to make coordination in research, transfer of technologies, techniques and experience in the field of environmental protection; cooperation in training human resources in the environmental sector.

Mr.Dung also expected that this cooperation will contribute to strengthening the sustainable cooperation relationship, the development of Binh Duong and Meti Kansai, thereby helping Binh Duong have the opportunity to access new equipment, techniques, technologies and experience in the field of environmental protection, as well as training high-quality human resources to ensure the task of solving environmental problems towards the goal of developing Binh Duong into a smart city.

He assigned provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Industry and Trade, Industrial Parks’ Management Board, Becamex IDC, Binh Duong Water-Environment Joint Stock Company (Biwase) to closely work with Meti Kansai in the process of performing the tasks under the program and plan set out to achieve the highest efficiency of the project.
