Binh Duong continues accelerating Covid-19 vaccination

On August 25, the Ministry of Health held a video conference to strengthen the prevention and control of epidemics and vaccination against COVID-19. 

According to the Ministry of Health, the country has so far given more than 255 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to target groups. Currently, there is less than 1 week left to complete vaccination for children from 5 to under 12 years old, but the vaccination progress in many localities have been very slowly; there are 5 provinces and cities that have injection rate of the second dose of only from 19.1% to 34.5%.

In Binh Duong, during the peak month for COVID-19 prevention control and vaccination, the vaccination rate among target groups tends to increase in recent days. Coverage rate of two basic shots reaches a high rate in the province. In terms of target groups, the province has given more than 298,900 injections to children from 5 to 11 years old, of which the first dose reached 71.8% of the population, and the second dose reached 40.1%. For children aged 12 to 17, first dose reached 114.5%, second dose reached 105.8%, and third dose 40.6% of the population. 

Currently, medical branch is coordinating with the provincial Department of Education and Training to continue speeding up the basic dose injection for children from 5 to 11 years old and the booster shot injection for children from 12 to 17 years old. In addition, medical branch also cooperates with localities and Department of Labor and War Invalids & Social Affairs, and Management Board of Industrial Parks to give booster-shot injection to workers in industrial zones. 

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Deputy Minister of Health, asked provinces and cities to continue to direct, urge and assist localities to accelerate vaccination against COVID-19, especially third and fourth doses for people aged 12 and over; the two basic doses for children from 5 to under 12 years old according to the goals set by the Government and the Prime Minister, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
