Binh Duong Green Book should be expanded

Binh Duong is one of provinces with a high growth (14%/year) but the rising pressure of environmental pollution impacts on natural environment and local sustainable development. Many businesses have built and excelled requirements of environmental protection in the process of business and production.

Green book businesses

Founded in 2009, Petrolimex Import-Export JSC specializing in producing and trading interior - exterior decorative paint, varnish and maxilite paint possesses a green production technology transferred from the EU. With the motto “for eco-environmental safety and customers’ health”, Hoang Manh Hung, head of the company personnel department, said “to protect productive environment, Petrolimex Paint Factory is equipped a waste water treatment system. Besides, the company installed other facilities to ensure the quality of air at the working place.

Like Petrolimex, Procter & Gamble Vietnam Co. (P&G) has pledged to excel “Sustainable development program” by measures of environmental protection. They include decreases of water consumption and waste and exhaust fumes.    

The company trade union chairman Luu Huu Phuoc, said the company has constantly produced environmental friendly products of Downy, Pamper diaper. Besides, the company staff enjoys trainings on environmental protection…

In addition, 32 businesses winning standards of Binh Duong Green Book were honored by all level agencies.

Expansion in business community

Nguyen Trinh Cao Son, vice head of the local environmental protection bureau, said “among 32 businesses winning green standards, 97% of which are located at industrial parks and 25% are local enterprises.

Planting green trees in industrial parks has been launched widely. So far, among 24 industrial parks with 6,850ha, there are 367ha of green trees are planted to create a green, clean and ensured environment.

To protect environment and improve pollution caused by industrial production, this is the first time Binh Duong sets up Green Book category criteria.

According to Vo Thi Ngoc Hanh, vice director of the local department of Environment and Natural Resources, businesses excelling environmental protection will be honored annually. This will create a trend and driving force for other businesses to contribute to local sustainable development.
