Early November 10, Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony announcing Binh Duong Green Book 2020. Attending the event was Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Thanh Truc, Deputy Chairman of Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee, leaders of departments and agencies, and representatives 60 enterprises named in Binh Duong Green Book 2020. The Green Book is periodically published once every two years to honor enterprises well implementing environment protection in the province.

60 enterprises honored
Binh Duong Green Book 2020 is to disseminate information and improve awareness as well as transforming behaviors of environment protection among enterprises. In the meantime, it is to improve images, brand-names and values of enterprise doing wel in environment protection.
Binh Duong provinical Department of Natural Resources and Environment surveyed 105 enterprises of industrial production in the province. Of the 105 enterprises, 86 are within industrial parks and 19 are outside industrial parks while 28 are domestic and 77 are foreign. Based on the survey, Binh Duong Green Book council classified and ranked the surveyed enterprises to select 60 enterprises for meeting the surveying criteria. However, 13 enterprises failed to meet the surveying criteria among 23 ones refusing to join. Nine enterprises failed to standardize their wastewater before releasing. Fifty nine enterprises were colored green for having more than 90 mark points. This included 44 enterprises named in Binh Duong Green Book 2018 along with 15 nominated ones. Thirty six enterprises had more than 100 mark points.
Ngo Quang Su, Director of Binh Duong provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment said: “Enterprises attending the scheme have environmental profiles making it favorable to collect information about them. Besides, all of them are very cooperative to us.”

The naming of enterprises in Binh Duong Green Book is to uphold community responsibilities, contributing to the prevention and environment quality improvement in Binh Duong province. The naming of 60 enterprises in Binh Duong Green Book is the highlight of environment protection cause in Binh Duong through time.
Do Thi Hoa, Director of Social Responsibility and Environment Sanity and Safety of Pungkook Saigon II Corporation said: “Since 2008, we have targeted to observation of laws and standards of environment protection. This is our affirmation of our responsibilities to the community, contributing to the environment protection cause of the province. Binh Duong Green Book is meaningful and encouraging to us to make efforts in improving the environment.”
An unnamed representative of Saigon STEC Co. Ltd. in VSIP II of Thu Dau Mot city, said: “We have successfully constructed and maintained ISO 14001:2015 of environment protection, ISO 45001:2018 of management of health and job safety, and ISO 9001:2.2015 of quality control. We commit to maintain and improve the environment by activities of creating green zones with coverage of more than 20%, wastewater treatment, and strict observation of labor sanitation and fire prevention.”
To promote information dissemination
Ngo Quang Su, Director of Binh Duong provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment said: “To encourage enterprises to well implement environment protection and add more enterprises to Binh Duong Green Book, we have proposed to provincial authority to earn special regulations on enterprises meeting the requirement of the Green Book. Besides, we have allocated funds to praise and award the models as well as introducing ‘green’ enterprises in the mass media and ads to encourage them to make efforts for good environment protection.”
Addressing the ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Truc, Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee suggested that the department and grassroots people’s committees should continue with promoted information dissemination about evaluation criteria, ranking and construction of Binh Duong Green Book in the public. In the meantime, he called for planning the praising and awards to enterprises named in the book through Binh Duong Television and Binh Duong Newspaper while new enterprises meeting the requirements should be timely proposed for the praising and awards.
For enterprises failed to be named in the Green Book, he recommended that they should make more efforts to remedy shortcomings. The community and enterprises should join in the disseminate and encouragement of the Green Book for the time to come. He was hopeful that enterprises and individuals praised and awarded should call upon more to join in the environment protection cause of the province.
