Binh Duong has 5 athletes winning gold medals at SEA Games 31

At the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), Vietnam’s sports delegation finished first with 205 gold medals in 40 events. Among them, 5 came from Binh Duong’s athletes.

Opening gold medals for athletes from Binh Duong was a familiar name in cycling, cyclist Dinh Thi Nhu Quynh. The girl from Hoa Binh was the one bringing the gold medal to Vietnamese cycling in the cross-country cycling Olympic category. In addition, the "golden girl" of Binh Duong’s cycling team also won a silver medal in the relay team event. This was a rather unfortunate content that Nhu Quynh and her teammates dropped gold when they were only 10 seconds behind the opponent.

In Xiangqi chess, Lai Ly Huynh once again showed his level when he won a gold medal in the mixed doubles rapid event. This was the second gold medal of an athlete from Binh Duong at the 31st SEA Games. Meanwhile, in the first time of attending the SEA Games, vovinam boxer Le Hong Tuan defeated very strong opponents from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, Thailand to win a precious gold medal for Vietnam’s vovinam, helping the home team surpass the target of gold medals at this congress.

Following the success of senior Nhu Quynh, cyclist Bui Thi Quynh and his team brought home the gold medal in the women's team cycling event of 112km. Closing the successful SEA Games of Binh Duong athletes is striker Tien Linh's 5th gold medal when he and the U23 men's football squad of Vietnam successfully defended the championship title at home.
