Binh Duong has no poor households under central poverty line

The Central Steering Board for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2011-2020 period, on February 5, forwarded an online conference on the result of the 2014 poverty reduction and tasks through 2015. In Binh Duong, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee attended the conference.

Reportedly, the ratio of the country’s poverty rate as of late 2014 reduced to 1.8%-2%. Around VND34.7trillion was spent on the national poverty reduction target. In Binh Duong, there were no more poor households under the central poverty line. The whole province as of late 2014 existed 3,197 poor households or 1.12% of total and 4,286 poor-near households or 1.5% of total under the new poverty line.

The Bank for Social Policies’ Binh Duong Branch last year disbursed VND375bln in loan for the poor. The province also built and upgraded 315 “great unity” and “red cross” houses; well realizing the issues of job introduction, vocational training, support on health and education…More than VND20bln was also raised to provincial Fund for the poor and its affiliates. The money has been effectively used for taking care of the local poor households and near-poor ones.
