Binh Duong has one more Vietnamese Heritage Tree

The Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment has decided to recognize the banyan tree at Cay Da Temple, Quarter 2, Phu My Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree.

According to the application for recognition as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree established by the People's Committee of Phu My Ward, the banyan tree (also known as the hairy banyan tree) has the scientific name Ficus drupacea Thunb, belonging to the Moraceae family. The tree has a base circumference of 22m, base diameter of 32m, peak height of 30m, canopy diameter facing East - West is 24m and facing South - North is 32m. The tree is over 250 years old.

Currently, the banyan tree is being strictly protected by authorities and localities. The tree grows well, flowers every year, and bears fruit regularly...
