The 7th International Billiards Carom 3C Tournament 2018 Becamex IJC - Number 1 Cup has closed with a success in organization as well as professional quality. Binh Duong had one player reaching the semi-finals of this prestige and difficult international tournament for the first time.
This year's tournament had the participation of European player Cetin Volkan from the Netherlands. Although this player soon stopped at the first round, but the presence of a player from the country of Tulip brought new colors to the tournament and paved the way for stronger European players, especially world-class players in Portugal, Italy, Spain ... in next times. According to the organizers, the live broadcast of the tournament on Facebook and Youtube attracted tens thousands of followers, showing that the tournament really brought an opportunity to enjoy and learn for athletes and fans not only in Binh Duong but also in and outside the country.
After the closing ceremony, Bui Thien Khai, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Radio and Television Station, Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said: "The tournament received praises from Asian Federation of Billiards. The organization of the tournament, from transportation, arrangement of accommodations for players to services at the venue, live broadcast with specialized equipment to serve viewers, billiards fans, were improved and carried out in a professional manner. It was more exciting, when the first time after seven times, one athlete of Binh Duong entered the semi-finals. That was player Vuong Minh Thien, who excellently surpassed many professional players, including former SEA Games champion Nguyen Quoc Nguyen in the quarterfinals to make it to the semi-finals. This showed that the tournament helped improve the professional level of provincial players from competition experiences against many veterans of the country and of the world”.
In the final, Vietnam's top-ranked player Tran Quyet Chien (World Class No. 12 – UMB) defeated South Korea's Kang Dong Koong (World No. 23) and won the championship. Duong Anh Vu (HCMC) won over Vuong Minh Thien (Binh Duong) with 40/24 points after 20 turns and got the final third.
