Binh Duong ranked third in the country
The 2022 Provincial Logistics Competitiveness Index report was conducted for the first time in Vietnam with a survey period lasting for more than 1 year, from August 2022 to November 2023. Over the past year, experts in the research team conducted surveys with a large sample size, made hundreds of hours of in-depth interviews and dozens of meetings to report on progress as well as periodically consulted with state management agencies, organizations, businesses and research organizations.

According to VLA Chairman Le Duy Hiep, LCI is an index that measures and evaluates the development speed, quality, infrastructure, and policies of provincial and city governments in Vietnam regarding the logistics service business. This index will help plan policies to develop the logistics industry in localities across the country. Thereby, the goal is the impact of cutting logistics costs and supporting production and export development, attracting foreign investment effectively, contributing to Vietnam's development.
In the 2022 LCI report, 26 provinces and cities were selected based on the prominence of gross regional domestic product (GRDP), volume of goods circulated, and number of logistics enterprises. As a result, 21 localities in all economic regions in the country were evaluated and ranked. Accordingly, the top 5 in terms of logistics competitiveness index include: Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Hanoi. Nguyen Tran Hieu, Director of Binh Duong Customs Department, said that Binh Duong is currently one of the most dynamically developing localities in the southern region and the whole country with the formation and development of 33 industrial parks, 12 Industrial clusters focus on attracting businesses, especially FDI businesses. The total import-export turnover of enterprises in the province has now risen to third place in the country. Due to this advantage, Binh Duong logistics service businesses develop quite quickly in both quantity and quality. The system of warehouses, yards, and means of transportation is continuously being newly invested, expanded, basically meeting the requirements of domestic and foreign goods circulation of businesses.

According to the Logistics Services Development Plan of Binh Duong province until 2025, orientation to 2030, vision for 2045, Binh Duong would become a satellite center, a place to gather goods and concentrate logistics services to serve goods production activities in industrial zones and clusters in the region; form a supply chain of goods from manufacturers to domestic and foreign consumer markets, promoting distribution to provinces and cities in the region, and exporting abroad. In the 2022-2025 period, Binh Duong strives to have 100% of large centers reach a level above 5PL (ELogistics - Logistics on e-commerce); form a system of ports on Dong Nai River, Saigon River and Thi Tinh River connecting to Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4, including: An Son port, An Tay port, An Dien port; upgrade Binh Duong port to meet international border container port standards.
In order for the logistics industry to fully develop its potential and strengths, Binh Duong is implementing many solutions. Specifically, the province focuses on vital traffic routes, upgrading inland waterway ports, railways, warehouse systems... All are being planned for reasonable development and construction, with the ability to connect with seaports, river ports, railway stations, and international airports in the region to ensure convenient and fast movement of goods and logistics activities, reducing optimal costs for businesses.
Nguyen Van Danh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that with the desire to find suitable projects, as well as potential partners to develop quality logistics projects, Binh Duong continues to strengthen investment attraction activities and logistics infrastructure development. Binh Duong is strongly implementing and closely following the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision for 2050, to be consistent with the national master plan and in line with the development of the logistics service industry. Binh Duong will also promote investment attraction, especially attracting businesses with capacity in logistics activities to research investment and build logistics centers planned by the Provincial People's Committee.
Binh Duong is also focusing efforts on the implementation of projects, such as: Ring Road 4, Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway; Bach Dang 2 bridge project connecting Binh Duong - Dong Nai; Raising the air clearance of Binh Trieu 1 bridge on the Saigon River connecting with Ho Chi Minh City. Both railways, roads and waterways in the area are being paid attention and urged by Binh Duong in an effort to connect with key national infrastructure in the Southeast region, southern key economic region, and Ho Chi Minh City.
