Binh Duong issues plan on implementing int’l economic integration activities in 2024

On April 17, 2024, Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee, signed Decision No. 1093/QD-UBND on the issuance of provincial plan on implementing international economic integration activities for 2024.

The plan aims at propagandizing and enhancing capabilities regarding international economic integration, focusing on disseminating prominent international integration events in 2024 and providing in-depth information on the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam has participates in, signed and implemented. It also aims at strengthening coordination in implementing specialized integration activities between Binh Duong and the Inter-Sectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration, relevant ministries and sectors.

In addition, the plan seeks to improve the capacity of officials responsible for integration work and the capacity of the focal agencies; enhance the implementation of activities researching and forecasting on international integration trends.

The plan includes 13 specific tasks assigned to various provincial departments, agencies, district/town/city-level People's Committees, associations and enterprises in the province. Accordingly, the key tasks for provincial Department of Industry and Trade include:

Increasing the dissemination of Party guidelines, State policies and laws on international integration, FTAs, export-import markets, trade defense, etc.

Diversifying appropriate forms and channels of information to broadly disseminate information to each agency, unit, enterprise and people in the province about FTAs such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Vietnam-Israel Free Trade Agreement (VIFTA).

Regularly contacting and coordinating with departments, bureaus and trade representative offices abroad under the Ministry of Industry and Trade to capture market trends and inform businesses to proactively engage in production and business activities; strongly support enterprises in using e-commerce, participating in major domestic and international e-commerce platforms to boost exports.

Supporting, encouraging enterprises, cooperatives and production facilities in the province to promote production, innovate, improve product quality, enhance competitiveness, expand markets and move towards effective export.

Leading and coordinating with relevant units to organize the following programs:

       -Organize Halal standards training for businesses to effectively participate in the global Halal market (expected April 2024).

     -Coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a conference on skills to enhance brand value for businesses in FTA markets for key industries of Binh Duong province (expected August 2024).

       -Coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a conference on utilizing import sources to increase FTA utilization rates for the textile and garment industry (expected October 2024).

        -Organize a workshop on skills to respond to the risk of being investigated for applying trade defense measures, origin fraud and illegal transshipment for wood products exports (expected July 2024).

In addition, members of provincial Steering Committee for International Economic Integration, provincial departments, agencies, district/town/city-level People's Committees, based on their functions and tasks, will effectively implement this plan and report its results to provincial Department of Industry and Trade before November 30, 2024.
