Last part: Looking from Becamex IDC’s social housing development model
The success of the Becamex Social Housing Project has not only showed the soundness of provincial Party Committee’s Action Program No.27 on social housing development, but also helped the province learn previous lessons in this field.

Experience learnt
The Becamex social housing development project was implemented under provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.2541/QD-UBND dated September 6, 2011 on social housing construction in the 2011-2015 period. And Becamex IDC was assigned as the investor of the work with 43 social housing projects for low-income people.
As designed, each social apartment from 2nd to 5th floor built by Becamex IDC in the phase 1 of the project is 5m long and 4m wide plus a mezzanine with a total area of 30 sq.m. For ground-floor apartments, each is 5m wide and 9.4m long plus street front, so it is not only used for staying, but also for business activities.
Becamex IDC will also bravely raise the total area of each social apartment to more than 50 sq.m and the total height of each bloc to 15 or 16 storeys at market’s demand in the phase 2 of the project.
To build social apartments with cheap price, in fact, the province has used around 220 hectares of clean land with basically-built infrastructure in urban and industrial areas for this field. Social housing apartments under the Becamex social housing project have also received more support from the State.
Such these apart, the success of the Becamex social housing construction model has come from the application of new and modern construction technologies, helping reducing construction cost at maximum level, but still ensuring the quality of works…
Continuing being implemented strongly
Le Minh Quoc Hung, Director of Becamex IDC’s Social Housing Project Development said that Becamex IDC has carried out 5 social housing projects, namely Hoa Loi social housing area in TDM city’s Hoa Phu ward, Dinh Hoa social housing area in TDM city’s Dinh Hoa ward, My Phuoc social housing area at Ben Cat town-based My Phuoc 1 industrial park together with 2 Viet-Sing social housing areas at Thuan An town-based Vietnam-Singapore industrial park.
So far, more than 1,100 workers have bought social apartments invested by Becamex IDC with the lowest price of VND90mln each. This is seen as a “shocking” price level for the whole country’s real estate market at present.
Tran Van Nam, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that the province has approved the Becamex IDC social housing project with more than 64,000 apartments and total investment capital of nearly VND11trillion at low-income people’s demand for housing. The project has been implemented since 2012 and so far handed over 5,000 apartments to buyers with the selling price of VND90mln each of 30sq.m. In the phase 2 of the project, Becamex IDC will build additional 10,000 apartments with each of 50sq.m-70sq.m for average-income people.
Obviously, Becamex IDC’s effective participation in building social housing apartments for low-income people has been as the key to the success of provincial Party Committee’s Action Program No.27. The success of social housing projects under Becamex IDC’s Social Housing Development Project is of great significance for the local socio-economic development.
In addition, Becamex IDC’s success to social housing model with cheap price has made Binh Duong’s real estate market reach strong development steps, contributing to reshaping the local urban image, helping the locality become a first-class city by 2020 on schedule.
