Binh Duong literature and art sector transforms itself to grow further

Along with the upward development of the province, literature - arts sector in Binh Duong has made good and clear changes. Works of Binh Duong literature and arts continued to develop, constantly cultivate quintessential cultural values, contribute to fostering good personality, ideology, morality and lifestyle for generations, especially the younger generation.

In the last tenure, the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts successfully organized contests as planned. To make widespread impressions

In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming Lunar New Year 2022, many artists and writers review achievements of Binh Duong literary and arts sector in the recent seven years. Binh Duong's literary and arts activities have made new developments and widespread impressions.

Sharing his excitement about the achievements of Provincial Association of Culture and Arts, author Phan Hai said that every year the association opens a creative writing camp for members to exchange ideas and learn experience from each other. There are also short-term creative training classes that are very useful for members to improve themselves. The Association always creates favorable conditions for members to promote their ability of create and publish works. Therefore, membership of the association is increasing, and includes many young excellent writers.

Pham Dac Hien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, said that besides the organization of creative camps and training courses, the Association also holds exhibitions and contests for creative arts for members, thereby selecting works of high artistic quality to take part in competitions held by the central and regional levels. During the 7th term (2015-2022), the association held 41 competitions, including 26 provincial competitions, 14 regional competitions and 1 Central competition. For example: At the 7th Regional Fine Arts Exhibition of the Southeast region, the wooden art work of Nguyen Hoai Huyen Vu won A prize in 2020, Le Thanh Tung won B prize in 2020, lacquer work of Nguyen Tan Cong won B prize in 2020, and many works of young artists were introduced by Art Appraisal Council to participate in awards of Vietnam Culture and Arts Associations.

Particularly, 172 authors (including 54 authors from outside the province) participated in the Huynh Van Nghe Arts and Culture Award, in the 2016-2020 period, with 1,830 works. The Organizing Committee selected 46 works of 45 authors of different genres for awarding; in which 30 Binh Duong authors won prizes. In particular, in 2017, Binh Duong hosted the 2nd National "Don Ca Tai Tu" Festival 2017, the Provincial Culture and Arts Association took on many important tasks, contributing to a great success and making a good impression on the public and delegations coming to the Festival. Binh Duong won the team gold medal. Particularly, two members of Binh Duong won gold medal: Elite Artist Thu Hong (now People's Artist Thu Hong) and artist Ngoc Kieu Oanh.

To uphold cultural quintessence

Over the past years, the Provincial Association of Culture and Arts has attached its activities to local political tasks, maintained its creative orientation according to the spirit of the 5th Party Central Resolution on "Building a Vietnamese advanced culture, imbued with national identity", Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Continuing to build and develop folk culture in the new period" and Resolution No. 33- NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee on "Building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet new requirements of sustainable development of the country".

Musician Vo Dong Dien, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Culture and Arts, said that in addition to the mission of discovering, gathering and fostering creative writing skills for members, organizing political activities, the Association regularly disseminates directives, resolutions of the Party and guidelines policies of the State to help members gain have a clearer and more profound awareness of the situation of the country and tasks of literature arts sector in the new situation. The above activities have helped members understand clearly the Party's viewpoints and orientations on literature arts in the new period so that they actively take responsibility for art creation as well as actively participate in the association's activities, contribute to the development of literature arts sector of the province and the whole country.

In the coming tenure, Binh Duong's literary arts activities will strive to perform well a number of key tasks, such as: to organize political and professional trainings for new members and young collaborators, create sources for the association's growth in the coming time; create favorable conditions for members to experience in a practical way; maintain effective writing camps, local literature arts contests; participate in regional competitions, festivals and exhibitions to improve the quality of works. In addition, the Association will compile excellent anthologies of writing works, while performing well the publishing support for authors having outstanding works; collaborate with departments and agencies in the province to create favorable conditions for the dissemination of valuable works to the public.

At present, the Provincial Association of Arts and Culture has 7 branches and 1 specialized association, including: Literature, folk art, theater, music, dance, photography, fine arts, and Architects association. The Association has a membership of 374. The number of members admitted to the Central specialized associations up to now is 121 members (Architects Association is 53 members in particular). During the 2015-2022 tenure, 13 members received the title of Excellent Artist by the State and 1 member was honored as People's Artist.
