After the country was reunified, on December 1, 1976, the Provincial Party Standing Committee decided to establish Song Be newspaper. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, former Editor-in-Chief of Song Be Newspaper (Binh Duong Newspaper), recalls that at that time, the newspaper had a staff of over ten officers and reporters. Despite facing numerous challenges, including a lack of working conditions and resources for publishing, the team at Song Be Newspaper consistently strived to fulfill the propaganda tasks assigned by the Party, the State, and the community.
Since its first issue, which contained 4 pages and was published every 10 days, Song Be Newspaper—now known as Binh Duong Newspaper—has experienced significant growth over the past 48 years. The publication continuously innovates in both content and format. Currently, Binh Duong Newspaper releases 6 issues per week, with some editions boasting a circulation of up to 120,000 copies per issue.
With the advancement of printed newspapers, the electronic Binh Duong Newspaper website was upgraded in mid-April 2004, featuring an expanded interface. Throughout its development, Binh Duong Newspaper has consistently evolved by revising its content strategy and diversifying the ways it delivers information to readers accurately and objectively. It also plays a crucial role in leading and directing the flow of official information amidst a multitude of unofficial channels and fake news.
Although retired, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, former Editor-in-Chief of Song Be Newspaper - Binh Duong Newspaper, still reads Binh Duong Newspaper every day. According to him, nowadays, “journalists have to compete for information, hot and attractive topics…”
Mr. Le Minh Tung, Editor-in-Chief of Binh Duong Newspaper, stated that the newspaper has effectively fulfilled its principles and objectives, serving as the official voice of the Provincial Party Committee and acting as a bridge between the Party, the government, and the people. Binh Duong Newspaper continuously innovates and enhances the quality of its content and presentation, ensuring timely and widespread dissemination of the Party's guidelines, government policies, and laws. The publication also highlights the province's potential and strengths. Notably, there is a strong emphasis on grassroots information and propaganda, targeting localities as well as workers and laborers living and working in the province. Additionally, efforts are made to distribute the newspaper widely, allowing more readers to access the official information provided by local Party newspapers.
In the future, Binh Duong Newspaper will continue to promote the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws to all segments of society. The newspaper will consistently innovate and create propaganda content that aligns with the specific characteristics of the current situation, task requirements, and the needs of different audiences. Information will be presented to readers in a concise, clear, and easily understandable manner, incorporating digital journalism techniques.
