After 2 days of urgency and science, the scientific conference of "The tradition inheritance of Binh Duong in a quarter of a century - The achievements and prospects" was successful with many imprints and is expected to create strong changes to help Binh Duong develop faster and more sustainably in the coming time.

The position and brandname of Binh Duong affirmed

The conference assessed the development results of Binh Duong province comprehensively in all aspects during the reforming period to identify and clarify the outstanding features of Binh Duong province's development model in the national renewal process and to analyze the causes, especially the ways leading to success, and draw lessons from the results achieved in Binh Duong province while analyzing and forecasting factors affecting the development of Binh Duong province in the next 3 decades.

Accordingly, on the basis of inheriting and promoting the common achievements of 25 years of construction and development, Binh Duong province has promoted the tradition of solidarity and unity; proactive, positive, daring thoughts and responsibility, and at the same time propose mechanisms and policies to rationally apply objective laws and methodically and scientifically concretize within the framework of the laws with many new models and good practices to gain outstanding, important and comprehensive achievements in all fields. Its role was well implemented as one of the economic growth of the southern key economic region.

During 25 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has always been in constant motion. Looking back on the journey after 25 years of re-establishment, to date, Binh Duong's economic scale has grown stronger, its competitiveness has improved significantly, and its continuous growth momentum for many years has created a premise, the basic foundation for the province to continue to innovate, integrate, industrialize, modernize, develop rapidly and sustainably in the following years. The system of socio-economic infrastructure is invested and promoted effectively; investment environment continues to be improved; confidence of the business community and society increases... promotes growth, creates new development motivation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former director of the Vietnamese Institute of Economics and a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group, said that up to now, it seems that no locality has done as drastic and thorough as Binh Duong, the most difficult target to achieve is to break away from "asking - giving benefits" towards greater autonomy in operating and managing the transformation process in order to increase self-responsibility and proactively be for innovation and creativity. Thanks to simplicity and efficiency, Binh Duong has made a strategic breakthrough successfully made to establish a "development miracle" while continuously maintaining a high growth rate for many years, making fundamental changes of economic structure and leapfrogging the "class" of development, gaining the highest per capita GRDP in the country. From a poor province, Binh Duong has kept up and is "surpassing" the previous localities, even leading the country in many key aspects.

Challenges and difficulties identified

Through in-depth topical discussions, experts, scientists and delegates have highlighted many pressing and urgent issues that need resolving by the competent authorities at the soonest. At the same time, it also sets out strategic goals and solutions with long-term development orientation. The exchanged ideas, discussions, suggestions and criticisms of scientists, managers and experts are all in the spirit of democracy, responsibility and science. The comments have clarified and communicated more clearly the presented issues; thereby clarifying the judgments, orientations and addition of more solutions to help Binh Duong province develop quickly and sustainably in the future.

Based on the results, Binh Duong keeps on to strive constantly and make more efforts to gain higher and newer results, to contribute more to the central government. In particular, it is necessary to clear the "bottlenecks" to promote socio-economic development and take the responsibility of pioneering and taking the lead in development in the coming time. Thereby, it is not only the development center of the southern key economic region, but also is the development center of the whole country.

Along with assessing the achievements and results, the province has also clearly recognized the contradictions and challenges posed in the next phases, for instant, the contradiction of the great potentials that have not been fully liberated and a number of limited institutions, mechanisms and policies against the development requirements and limited resources of both human and material factors. The contradiction of growth rate and development quality in the context of the strong fourth industrial revolution and the unpredictable impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenge of rapid and sustainable development and the widening gap of the rich and the poor and climate change, the problem of renovating the growth model in accordance with the domestic and international economic context are also the challenges for the province in the face of increasingly fierce regional and international competition.

Ready for new developmental stages

During 25 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has always been in constant motion with innovative mindset and vision, striving to rise every day, and closely following and creatively applying views and directions associated with development of the Party's theory of the path to socialism. This is reflected in the persistence of long-term goals consistent with the actual characteristics, potentials and strengths of the province to help Binh Duong develop more strongly and sustainably, contributing to the implementation of the goals of the country's major targets.

Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: Binh Duong has passed a quarter of a century with impressive results in socio-economic development. With a keen awareness of opportunities and challenges in the coming time, Binh Duong aims to become a center and a driving force for regional and inter-regional linkages, and continues to be a pioneering local model in efforts to overcome the challenge of middle-income trap and sustainable development in the direction of smart, civilized and modern cities together with the whole country realizing the vision and goal of turning our country into a developed and high-income country according to the socialist direction in the middle of the century.

Binh Duong strives to successfully implement the direction of the Prime Minister when visiting and working with the province on building "a new generation industrial ecosystem associated with the 4th industrial revolution of green development, smart, sustainable, inclusive, and leaving no one behind.” The realization of this goal is the most worthy gratitude for the expectations of the central leadership for the determination of generations of local leaders for the trust and solidarity of the business community, to repay sacrifices and consensus of the people of the province as well as for those who have chosen Binh Duong as their second home on the path to finding their own happiness.
