Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975, Vietnam and Mexico have maintained and strengthened good political relations. In 2025, Vietnam and Mexico will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. The consolidation and development of the relationship between Vietnam and Mexico, especially in recent years, have gained impressive achievements. Prominently, the bilateral trade between Vietnam and Mexico has made remarkable progress, especially after the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) took effect. In 2023 alone, the bilateral trade between Vietnam and Mexico exceeded 10 billion USD. This confirms that Mexico is currently the main market for Vietnamese products in Latin America.

Vietnam and Mexico maintain regular and highly effective exchanges through two mechanisms: Political consultation and Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation. In addition, the two countries also enhance high-level dialogues, promoting cooperation between the two sides. During the working session, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao provided an overview of the socio-economic development situation of Binh Duong province. He also expressed his desire for Ambassador Nguyen Hoanh Nam to support and connect with the Mexican Business Association and suitable partners, creating conditions for businesses to explore investment and trade cooperation opportunities with Mexican partners, serving as a bridge to access the Latin American market in the future.
