Binh Duong’s industrial positioning endeavors

The driving momentum of growth

In recent years, Binh Duong has had many policies to prioritize industrial development. The industrial sector has had positive changes, supporting industries have developed strongly, linked to the value chain linkage of multinational corporations. Binh Duong is developing industry in depth, promoting the application and innovation of technology and gradually reducing the proportion of labor-intensive industries that have negative impacts on the environment. Some key industries such as electricity, electronics, telecommunications, information technology, mechanics, etc. and export processing industry play a leading role in the growth of the industry.

In 2024, Binh Duong strives for an Industrial Production Index (IIP) increase of 8.7% compared to 2023. In order to contribute to the completion of the set target, the Department of Industry and Trade is actively removing difficulties, creating the most favorable conditions for enterprises to produce and trade, thereby promoting stable economic growth of the province. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Toan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in order for the industry to develop in depth, the province will continue to prioritize the development of supporting industries, processing and manufacturing industries, supply of raw materials, and increase the localization rate for industrial products. Along with that, Binh Duong will develop a plan to gradually convert the functions of industrial parks and clusters in the south, moving industrial production facilities from the south to the north of the province in accordance with the urban and service development plan. In particular, the province will focus on implementing the correct roadmap for the development of industrial parks according to the plan approved by the Prime Minister.

The positioning elevation

To develop and upgrade the industry, Binh Duong has been forming a number of industrial parks and interdisciplinary industrial clusters. Up to now, there have been many supporting industry projects from large corporations in the world deployed in the province. Typical projects include projects of Kolon Group (Korea), Polytex Far Eastern (Taiwan, China), Tetra Park (Singapore), Mitsubishi (Japan), Procter & Gamble (USA), Kumho (Korea), Messer (Germany), Lego (Denmark).

Binh Duong is also creating favorable conditions for THACO Industries to soon build a mechanical and supporting industrial park with an investment scale of about VND26,000 billion. This industrial park not only serves the automobile sector but also expands to many other industrial sectors. Mr. Do Minh Tam, General Director of THACO Industries, said that the mechanical and supporting industrial park in Binh Duong will contribute to solving the shortage of raw materials, saving time and transportation costs; at the same time, creating opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to promote cooperation and mutual support, develop the business community together, and participate in the global value chain.

According to the Provincial Planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Binh Duong identifies industry as the main growth driver. Binh Duong focuses on modernizing existing industries, increasing the localization rate in supporting industries and developing high-tech industries, participating in global value chains such as machinery, industrial equipment, telecommunications electronics, remote control, integrated circuits, electronic chips, etc. At the same time, Binh Duong focuses on developing ecological industries, applying high technology; making the processing and manufacturing industry a mainstay in the economy.

Accordingly, Binh Duong is synchronously implementing a number of key solutions, such as forming the "Binh Duong Innovation Zone", creating new development momentum, international integration, attracting stronger investment, meeting the needs of people and businesses in the new conditions. Binh Duong is also actively transforming digitally; continuing to take industry as the foundation, as a breakthrough, the core of which is building infrastructure of industrial parks associated with urbanization; constantly improving the investment environment to enhance the province's competitiveness.
