Update: 08-03-2018 | 11:29:39

Over the past years, women in Vietnam in general and in Binh Duong in particular affirmed their role and position in family and society. Many women tried to build happy families, develop homebased business, expressing their role in all aspects and made contributions to the local socio-economic development.

Tran Thi Khanh is well-known as an outstanding woman in surmounting difficulties and rising up in life in Di An town’s Tan Dong Hiep ward. She said that although making efforts, her family did not get a stable life. Therefore, she and her husbandry decided to improve their homebased business by opening an eatery. This job has so far helped them stabilize their life. Currently, her first daughter is a second-year student of HCM city’s Polytechnic University. The second one is a sixth grader of Tan Dong Hiep secondary school. It is known that her family was honored as an outstanding family with good education for children by provincial Women’s Union and Labor Union.

Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union awards the certificates of merit to outstanding members last year

Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said that supporting women to build sustainable and happy families is among three tasks regularly done by provincial Women’s Union, which is also the foundation for building a strong organization. Hence, over the past time, provincial Women’s Union organized a variety of practical activities to honor outstanding families, provided women with skills in keeping happy families; took care of poor-but-excellent pupils.

Along with building happy families, provincial Women’s Union attached special importance to supporting women in business startup creation and economic development. Provincial Women’s Union has not only set a project on supporting women in business startup, but also rechecked the list of poor, near-poor households and specified reasons under the province’s new poverty line, thereby mapping out support plans for them.

In 2017, there were 100% female-headed poor and near poor families offered help in terms of loan and experience in production-business. Provincial Women’s Union also built 22 houses of compassion, 2 “great unity” houses and upgraded 2 houses of compassion with a total expense of more than VND1.5billion; effectively realized a movement of “Women helping each other in economic development”…With a program on thrift practice, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels offered help to 60,000 needy women with VND4billion.

Nguyen Thi Nu, member of Chanh Hung hamlet’s Women’s Union in North Tan Uyen district’s Hieu Liem commune is one of typical women in the movement of “Women helping each other in economic development”. she is now the owner of a fruit store with around 20 workers. On average, her family can earn more than VND800million in profit from the fruit store.

Possibly speaking, with their own efforts plus the attention and support of authorities and Women’s Unions at all levels, women in the province have affirmed their role and position in building well-off, happy families and made contributions to the local socio-economic development.
