Binh Duong smart city strategy continues being honored

Binh Duong was once again recognized by the World Smart Community Forum (ICF) as the Top 7 Intelligent cities of the world in 2023 along with cities from countries such as Canada, Brazil, Australia... With great efforts, it is believed that this new strategy will promote the development of Binh Duong to a new height, bringing prosperity to people as well as economic success and international recognition.

Creativity and digitization

The ICF has researched and evaluated the profiles of 21 Smart Communities that have won the Smart 21 title in February 2023 to select 7 communities with the best development strategies to be honored in the Top 7 ICF – 2023 that has just taken place in Durham Region, Canada. The ICF is a forum of more than 200 prosperous smart cities around the world. Its assessment is based on a set of 6 criteria, including broadband connection; workforce; innovation; equal access to digitalization; support and sustainability.

Unlike previous years, in 2023, the ICF has renewed the Smart 21 and Top 7 registration questionnaires, deeply and strongly focusing on strategic directions on sustainable development and innovation, with deeper and broader application of technology - digitalization, in the spirit of taking the community as the center, taking smart connection as the development motto. With the Covid-19 pandemic under global control, the ICF has assessed the Top 7 communities by visiting and interviewing directly. With the theme of "Building a strong region from community diversity", Binh Duong has implemented the Smart City Project ambitiously since 2016 and has always adhered to the concept of economic transformation towards innovation and digitization.

Supported and inspired by Brainport Eindhoven Smart Community in the Netherlands together with the efforts by Becamex IDC, Binh Duong has begun an impressive journey of socio-economic development, thoroughly applying digital transformation and innovation in specific projects, in order to build and develop it into a "smarter", better and more livable province. A digital and innovative ecosystem such as Smart Operation Center, EIU Campus with Becamex Business Nursery, Fablab, Advanced Manufacturing Center, the World Trade Center Binh Duong new city…, which is being strongly developed in Binh Duong, has really brought a better life to Binh Duong community.

Moreover, Binh Duong and Becamex IDC have also implemented strategic development programs in line with more sustainable goals such as promoting the use of clean energy, renewable energy, strengthening the use of technology application in industrial development and production 4.0..., creating a greener - cleaner living environment. This will help create a premise for attracting technology enterprises, attracting high-quality human resources, getting ready to strongly spread the smart model, promoting the province's socio-economic development.

According to Dr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of Binh Duong Smart City Office, in 2023, along with the constant transformation of the world, Binh Duong is also in the process of formulating and approving a smart city development strategy in the new period, with orientations consistent with the overall planning of the province. With right strategies and steady development steps over the past time, Binh Duong was once again officially recognized by the ICF as the Top 7 Intelligent Cities in 2023 along with cities from countries such as Canada, Brazil, Australia…It is believed that this new strategy will promote the development of Binh Duong to a new height, bringing prosperity to the local people as well as economic success and international recognition.

Real solution

Possibly seeing, the implementation of smart city construction in Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular has been received a positive response. However, there are still many problems on implementing solutions as well as the response of the people.

With its function, provincial Department of Science and Technology has coordinated with many event organizers to provide answers to important such questions as why do enterprises need to innovate? How have enterprises innovated? What are the important trends and lessons for enterprises wishing to transform 4.0 technology in production activities? The series of seminars aimed at bringing enterprises in-depth perspectives on innovation and 4.0 technology applied in production with leading experts in the region.

The seminar on augmented virtual reality solutions in smartcity recently organized by provincial Department of Science and Technology has contributed to disseminating knowledge on 4.0 technology in general as well as virtual and augmented reality technologies in particular and the ability to apply them into the digital transformation process, building a smart city with high efficiency in the coming time. According to leader of provincial Department of Science and Technology, efforts to meet these problems will be an important foundation in building up an industrial production ecosystem for the future; promote digital transformation and continuously upgrade production with comprehensive activities in education - training, research and development, technology introduction, readiness assessment and consultancy to support enterprises to apply appropriate 4.0 technology solutions, helping improve productivity and business management processes of enterprises.
