Binh Duong Sports Gifted School: A place for cultivating sports talents

Formerly as Sports Center, Binh Duong Sports Gifted School was established in 2002. After 14 years, the school has been a place for cultivating sports talents and supply skilled athletes, coaches to the province.

Every day, at 6.00 pm, young Taekwondo team of Binh Duong Sports Gifted School begin their workout day. Their training lasts 2 hours. Earlier, in the morning, young athletes also underwent heavy training hours. Along with sport training, they also learn cultural lessons. Nevertheless, coach Tu Nguyen Vu and his learners overcame difficulties and got many medals of different tournaments. Specifically, in 2015, they won 5 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze medals at the National Youth Championships, and 3 gold, 3 bronze medals at the National Strongest Clubs’ League. Le Phuoc Sang, a Taekwondo athlete said: "During our training session, the coach always tries his best to convey experiences and techniques to improve our achievements. During my training time here, I always strive to gain the highest achievements".

Regarding chess, Vo Mai Truc is an outstanding athlete under Binh Duong Sports Gifted School. Only in 2015, Truc acquired 2 gold medals at Southeast Asian Youth’s League; 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at the National Youth Championship and1 silver medal at the National Excellent Youth’s Championship. In particular, Vo Mai Truc honorably represented Binh Duong youth to attend the 9th National Patriotic Emulation Congress in Hanoi. In addition, chess players of Binh Duong Sports Gifted School also won many impressive prizes. Namely, 3 gold medals at Southeast Asian Youth’s League 2015 in Singapore were the best reward to coach Do Ngoc My Le and learners.

The year 2015 was also a successful year to youth football training. U15 team made their own impressions with the second prize at the finals of National Phu Dong Milo Football Cup; U13 team was ranked third at the National Youth Football League. In particular, Doan Minh Nhut, Nguyen Le Minh Khoi were selected to the national team. In addition, there are five other names that were selected to the U14 National Team.

Along with taekwondo, football, chess, some other sports, such as volleyball, cycling, athletics, body-building, table tennis, Vovinam, kick boxing ... also contributed "a golden season" to Binh Duong Sports Gifted School.

Rector Vo Kim Phung of Binh Duong Sports Gifted School said, the school provided trainings to 2 subjects: youngsters and gifted ones. Young team comprises 301 athletes, gifted team gathers 107 athletes and 666 athletes of grassroots line. In addition to 7 martial arts, like: Judo, Taekwondo, Karate, Pencak Silat, Vovinam Martial Arts, Kick Boxing, the school provides trainings of athletics, football, table tennis, volleyball, cycling, body-building, chess, swimming and tennis. Despite difficulties in material facilities, athletes have received preferential treatments corresponding to their talents. That is why young athletes always strive to practice and play hard for the national color.

The efforts of all students, dedication of coaches, staff of Binh Duong Sports Gifted School has contributed to the strong grwoth of Binh Duong sports. Only in 2015, Binh Duong Sports Gifted School gained a total of 291 medals, including 80 gold, 89 silver and 122 bronze medals (exceeding 23% target). Hopefully, in the future, with sufficient investments, coaches and athletes of the school would continue to develop their talents to narrow the gap between Binh Duong sports and national sports centers, like: Hanoi, HCM City and Da Nang.
