Binh Duong Trade Union and businesses take care of workers

In order to share difficulties with enterprises and take care of union members and workers, Binh Duong Trade Union has implemented many practical care programs. In which, the highlight is the "three-on-the-spot" meal support program.

To share difficulties with businesses

In order to help enterprises improve the quality of shift meals for workers at "three-on-the-spot" factories, Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park's Trade Union visited businesses and workers, presented financial support worth more than 3.1 billion VND to Wanek Furniture Company (VSIP 2, Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City) specializing in the production of sofas and furniture; and presented nearly 3.1 billion VND to Techtronic Industries Vietnam Manufacturing Company - TTI (VSIP 2A, Vinh Tan ward, Tan Uyen town), specializing in manufacturing, processing and assembling electrical equipment, accessories using electricity, hand tools using electricity, outdoor electrical equipment.

Andrew Lien, General Director of Wanek Furniture, said that the bad impact of the outbreak and prolonged pandemic caused the company's production and business activities as well as the worker's lives many difficulties. In order to both produce and prevent coronavirus at the factory, the company has applied an effective "three-on-the-spot" method; however, the cost of maintaining this method is higher than the cost of normal production operations.

“Our company sincerely thanks agencies and unions for the attention to employees and the company. With this support, the company will have more favorable conditions to take care of meals for workers, so that workers will be more healthy and work effectively. Thereby, to continue maintaining the factory's production activities, not to disrupt the supply chain as well as assure jobs and income for workers," said Andrew Lien.

Especially during the time we affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, which made it difficult for businesses to manufacture and do business, the company has received practical and timely support to help businesses both produce and effectively do anti-epidemic; at the same time, ensure that this support package is used for the right purpose to improve the quality of meals for "three-on-the-spot" workers.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, a worker of TTI Vietnam Company, also said: "I have stayed at the company to perform "three-on-the-spot" in the context of complicated pandemic developments, I was also very worried. Therefore, the attentive care of sleeping places and meals from the company and trade union at all levels helps us feel secure to work at the company and stay in Binh Duong."

To take care of workers' lives

Nguyen Nhat Linh, Chairman of grassroots Trade Union of TTI Vietnam Company, said that the company's grassroots trade union has done many activities to take care of trade union members and workers affected by the Covid-19, such as giving gifts of essential foods such as instant noodles, cereals, milk, canned fish, etc. to union members affected by the disease; donating essential items to workers who are working “three-on-the-spot”…

The company gives allowance to workers who return to the company for work at the post-lockdown time; rewarded employees working at the factory of “three-on-the-spot”; increased the cost of meals for workers... “The superior union was very timely in supporting meals for workers who are working under “three-on-the-spot” like us. This is a very valuable encouragement that brought joy to workers and motivation to businesses in the midst of the raging pandemic,” Linh said.

Dang Thi Kim Chi, President of VSIP Trade Union, said that following the policy of the superior trade union on supporting meals for union members and workers are doing "three-on-the-spot" at enterprises, the support is 1 million VND/person, is a one-time support from the trade union's accumulated fund, VSIP Trade Union has supported 238 businesses out of 338 "three-on-the-spot" businesses with a total amount of nearly 41 billion VND. In addition to timely support meals for union members and "three-on-the-spot" workers, VSIP Trade Union has also been dedicated to workers affected by the Covid-19.

According to report, VSIP Trade Union has paid allowances to take care of 3,632 cases of union members and workers, with a total amount of nearly 8.5 billion VND, of which 2,411 workers were F0 patients, 600 workers are F1 patients , and 621 are in disadvantaged groups... In addition, VSIP Trade Union mobilized companions and resources from provincial Labor Confederation to donate more than 6,500 gifts of necessities to support union members and workers affected by the pandemic in lodging houses.

Nguyen Kim Loan, Chairwoman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor, said that to implement the policy of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on improving the quality of meals for "three-on-the-spot" workers from the accumulated financial resources of trade unions at all levels, Binh Duong province has promptly carried out this support package to relief workers in the province. Up to now, trade union at all levels in the province have provided "three-on-the-spot" support to over 1,100 businesses with a total amount of nearly 140 billion VND. This support help businesses to improve the quality of "three-on-the-spot" meals, ensure employees' health and peace of mind to work effectively, help sharing difficulties with businesses and workers safely overcoming the pandemic.
