Binh Duong wins silver medals on first day of competition at 2013 National Athletics Champs

The 2013 National Athletics Championships officially kicked off at Ho Chi Minh City’s Thong Nhat Stadium on the afternoon of September 20.

The annual tournament has lured 423 athletes from 48 provinces and cities across the country who are competing in 50 men’s and 25 women’s events in individual and team categories.

After the opening ceremony, athletes began competition for the first events of the tournament. Binh Duong’s athletes won a silver medal in the men’s 4x800m relay event. Trang Bich Lieu of Binh Duong also grased a silver medal in the women’s shot-put event. On September 23, Binh Duong’s athletes entered the final round of the 800m-marathon and javelin throwing events.

At the tournament, 30 athletes from Binh Duong have competed in the men’s 100m, 800m and 1,000m marathon events, the men’s 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x800m relay events, and the women’s marathon, shot-put and javelin throwing events.

It is expected that the tournament will conclude on September 25 ahead.
