Monday, 13/01/2025

In recent days, authorities at all levels in the province, along with trade unions and businesses, have been actively preparing Tet gifts for workers who are far from home or facing difficult circumstances. Although these gifts may be small, they hold significant meaning and provide motivation for workers to overcome challenges and remain committed to their jobs for the long term.

Tet gifts have been given by trade unions at all levels to workers having difficult circumstances.

As long as I am healthy, I will be attached to Binh Duong

In Tan Uyen City alone, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, trade union and local government plan to present more than 10,000 Tet gifts to union members and workers having difficult circumstances. The number of gifts increased compared to previous years.

Recently, during a program to distribute Tet gifts to workers who are far from home in Tan Uyen City, many workers expressed their joy. Mr. Chau Bo Ra, who is originally from An Giang and currently works at a wood manufacturing enterprise, shared, “I have no intention of going back to my hometown. As long as I am healthy, I will continue to work in Binh Duong.”

Chau Bo Ra has been working as a worker in Tan Uyen City for more than 10 years. About 4 years ago, he and his wife moved to work at a wood company. He said that since the pandemic, the company has often lacked orders, causing workers' income to decrease. Although times were tough, the business owner has not laid off anyone. Uyen Hung Ward, where the couple is staying, also regularly organizes programs to support necessities for workers in difficult circumstances. "The gifts are small but meaningful and timely to encourage us in our most difficult times," said Chau Bo Ra.

Holding a Tet gift in her hand, Ms. Luu Thi Duy Nhat, a worker from Ninh Thuan employed at Interwood Vietnam Co., Ltd., stated that she will soon send money home so her husband can purchase Tet gifts for their four children. Seven years ago, Ms. Nhat left her children in the care of her husband and moved to Tan Uyen City to work alone. With a monthly salary of over 7 million VND, she manages to save about 4 million VND to send back to her children. "My husband stays home to take care of the children. I do whatever people ask me to do to earn extra money. For workers in difficult circumstances like my family, receiving many gifts from trade union and local authorities during Tet and getting a reduction in room rent during Tet helps me feel less worried," Ms. Luu Thi Duy Nhat shared.

Recently, with the support of mobilized resources, many communes and wards in the province have organized zero-dong markets to assist workers facing difficult circumstances during Tet by providing necessities and Tet gifts. Ms. Bui Ngoc Mai, Vice Chairwoman of Phu Hoa Ward People's Committee, Thu Dau Mot City, said that on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025The Ward People's Committee mobilized more than 4,000 gifts to support workers facing difficult circumstances. As part of this initiative, many lodging house owners in the area have reduced rental prices during the Tet holiday by 30-50%. “Through these practical activities, the community, along with lodging house owners and local philanthropists, hopes to provide a warm Tet celebration for workers so that they will continue to stay in Binh Duong for a long time,” said Ms. Mai.

Various Tet-caring activities for workers

A representative of the Provincial Labor Federation said that this year, it is expected that about 500,000 workers far from home will stay in Binh Duong to celebrate Tet. Currently, trade unions at all levels in Binh Duong are making efforts to implement activities to care for union members and workers having difficult circumstances during Tet, with the motto "All union members and workers have Tet". The total cost of supporting workers during the Lunar New Year in 2025 is estimated to be around 272.4 billion VND. Provincial trade unions will provide assistance to approximately 90,000 to 100,000 workers. Each worker will receive a Tet gift valued at 1 million VND, which includes 700,000 VND in cash and 300,000 VND in essential goods.

Union members and workers of Hoang Gia Furniture Joint Stock Company (Tan Uyen City) are excited to receive early Tet gifts.

Along with that, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Confederation requested that trade unions at all levels, especially the grassroots level, proactively negotiate and propose that employers fully implement the wage regime according to the contract for employees; at the same time, have policies and organize activities to show gratitude and thank employees. The Provincial Labor Confederation also organizes activities such as "Tet Reunion", "Tet Union Market"; supports train, bus and plane tickets for union members and workers who have not been able to return home for Tet celebration for many years. Of which, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor supported 450 round-trip train tickets, 103 plane tickets; the Binh Duong Provincial Confederation of Labor supported 1,000 train tickets, nearly 2,000 bus tickets...

Over the years, the Provincial Labor Confederation and various levels of trade unions have engaged in meaningful activities that provide both material and spiritual support to workers who come to Binh Duong to work and establish their homes. They particularly focus on supporting workers during the New Year and Spring holidays. Even though the gifts and thoughtful greetings from union officials may seem small, they play a significant role for disadvantaged workers, offering motivation to continue their journey toward building careers and sustaining their livelihoods.

Recently, the Fund dedicated to supporting workers in particularly challenging situations has been actively organizing visits and providing assistance to union members and workers facing serious illnesses, work-related accidents, and other difficult circumstances. The Fund has successfully supported 39 cases, disbursing a total of 346 million VND. The minimum support granted is 4 million VND per person, while the maximum is 10 million VND per person.
