Building great living environment

As of now, Binh Duong has attracted nearly 4,200 foreign direct investment projects with a total investment capital of over 40 billion USD, ranking second in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment, after Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Nguyen Trong Luat, General Director of Cicor Vietnam (VSIP I), stated that Binh Duong has flexible mechanisms, policies, and an innovative ecosystem to support businesses. In the context of new competition posing various challenges, including attracting and retaining investors, however, Binh Duong needs to provide a favorable living environment for them and their families, in addition to its already excellent industrial infrastructure.

Building a smart community in Binh Duong is a suitable direction, but Binh Duong also needs to create a more friendly and greener living environment. This means that Binh Duong needs to focus more on the quality of life, creating a significant advantage compared to other provinces and cities. Binh Duong is not only a desirable place to work but also a desirable place to live for investors and their families, according to Mr. Nguyen Trong Luat's desire.

Mr. John Jung, co-founder of ICF, suggests that Binh Duong should focus on developing a transportation system that aligns with the TOD model; creating spaces for residents to live and thrive, enhancing green spaces to make Binh Duong an attractive and desirable place to live, and a destination that attracts and retains talent and investors. Building a smart city requires comprehensive access, not only to technology and data, but also a focus on human factors, elevating education and training, enhancing the quality of the workforce, and fostering innovative and sustainable ecosystems. In the era of green transformation, Binh Duong needs to pay attention to an intelligent transportation system that caters to the mobility needs of its residents, while researching and developing high-tech transportation solutions such as electric vehicles and autonomous cars, as suggested by Mr. John Jung.

The leadership of Becamex Tokyu Company stated their desire to develop the new city of Binh Duong into a high-quality educational hub following international standards. They aim to establish internationally recognized universities in order to attract international students in various high-quality fields. The challenge at hand is how to foster collaborative development to build the new city into a reputable educational center and a destination for talented individuals.

Mr. Yoshito Hori, the founder and Chairman of Globis Corporation in Japan, believes that in order to develop the field of education in an international direction, a new city must attract talent and "draw" intellectual resources from elsewhere, creating a new ecosystem with ample career development opportunities and a desirable living environment. To achieve this, it is necessary to have consensus from all levels and sectors of the local community, and not to forget the support of the government.

Next steps to modernization

In line with this viewpoint, Ms. Yip Thy - Diep Ta, the founder of J3d.ai Labs (Germany), believes that Binh Duong needs to attract talented individuals to live and establish a high-quality knowledge ecosystem with good job opportunities. It is necessary to build high-quality universities. Ms. Yip Thy - Diep Ta suggests that Binh Duong should currently focus on elevating the production ecosystem, enhancing business leadership, training the workforce to access technology, and attracting high-quality industries, developing AI. This will be the first boost for the development of a high-quality industrial ecosystem. Being positioned in technology and high-tech industrial production, the development of high-quality universities and attracting international students will be easier.

Binh Duong has also identified the development of a new ecosystem, complementing the industrial-urban-service model, which will help the province move towards a deepening of modern industry and technological mastery. Mr. Nguyen Viet Long, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, stated that Binh Duong is developing a new type of ecosystem, supplementing the industrial-urban-service model, known as an innovative and scientific-technological ecosystem. The new ecosystem will establish smart industrial parks, smart cities, green and sustainable. "This is a prerequisite for Binh Duong's industry to move up to a higher segment in the global value chain, gradually building a new economic development momentum to replace labor-intensive and land-intensive practices," said Dr. Nguyen Viet Long.
