Realizing that the campaign of “building up cultural families” is of great significance for forming up and developing each individual’s dignity as well as the society’s sustainable development, provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism over time teamed up with provincial Fatherland Front Committee to organize the annual National Great Unity Festive Day and many other significant events to honor outstanding cultural families. Sectors, mass organizations and localities in the province also held many activities in response to Vietnam Family Day (June 28), including festivals for outstanding cultural families, conferences to honor well-off, advanced and happy families…, with the involvement of the local outstanding families. They contributed to raising awareness of the whole society about building up cultural families.

The family of Dang Minh Sang and Ho Thu Ha in Thoi Hoa commune is one of Ben Cat district’s outstanding cultural families for many consecutive years. Mr.Sang said: “To win the title of “cultural family”, each member in my family always tries to build up happy families”. Similarly, the family of Bo Kim Lang and Bui Quang An in Tan Phuoc Khanh township is also well-known as one of Tan Uyen district’s outstanding cultural families. Mrs.Lang said: “…Parents should set bright examples for their children, build up a happy family with obedient children”.

With the efforts by mass organizations and sectors plus families’ active response, the province’s campaign of “building up cultural families” gained many results, greatly contributing to creating a good foundation for the sustainable development of the families in the current period. The province saw an increase in the quality and quantity of cultural families. Particularly, in 1998, there were 78,974 families recognized as “cultural families”.
