Building green, clean, and beautiful schools is one of the 5 contents of the movement to construct "friendly schools and active students" launched by the Ministry of Education and Training. By creative ways, many schools in Binh Duong have green, clean, and beautiful school grounds with spacious classrooms, helping students be happy on every day to school of effective learning.

My school is green, clean, and beautiful

The first impression when we visited Chanh Nghia Primary School in Thu Dau Mot city was that the fresh school space and campus, and the classrooms which are spacious, clean, beautiful and friendly. Looking back at the school's construction process, Pham Van Xuan, the school's principal, said that when it was first invested in construction and put into use in 2019, the green tree system was not much and developed. Around the school, there were many vacancies that have not been planted with shade trees, without flower beds, lawns, or ornamental plants.

“Since 2019, on yearly basis the school strives to make a new building according to the green - clean - beautiful criteria of toilets, campus, flower pots, school grounds, building a green library and friendly classroom decoration. Up to now, the school yard has been planted with many trees and flowers of different colors; thereby, the works create the best environment for students to learn and develop comprehensively in terms of intelligence, health and life skills. Since having a green campus, the school has organized classes of extracurricular activities with the theme related to building a green, clean, and beautiful school," added Mr. Xuan.

Tan Hung Primary School of Bau Bang district also impressed us on visiting with the skillful teachers decorating the classrooms and the school's library with colorful pictures of childhood and the children's play corner. Huynh Ngoc Anh, the school's principal introduced that the school had a green space from the street to the classroom because they invested a lot of time and effort.

“During the summer days and on the eve of the new school year, the teachers worked hard at the school to color and paint. All of them wanted to bring a green, clean, and beautiful learning environment to the students. In order to achieve such goals, the school paid special attention to propagating and educating students to be conscious of keeping the environment clean. Teachers are responsible for integrating environmental education content into their subjects and extracurricular educational activities,” added Anh.

Not only Chanh Nghia and Tan Hung schools, after many years of implementing the emulation movement to build green, clean, and beautiful schools, the appearance of schools in the province has changed a lot. All schools in the province are invested in building, embellishing and supplementing their facilities. Many schools are built on a large scale in spacious and modern space with many beautiful trees planted in the campus. Every year, the Department of Education and Training organizes inspection and evaluation of educational institutions in the province on the criteria of green, clean, and beautiful, which is also one of the criteria of ranking national standard schools.

To create a good learning environment

The recess time for students of Trinh Hoai Duc Secondary School in Thuan An city now has more activities right at the school's green library. Holding the book, Nha Ky of grade 6A6, said: “Since the school's green library opened, we have more space of fun after school. Being immersed in this space, I feel very happy. The activities help us exchange and share more, contributing to the bond of friendship."

Dinh Quang Van – a music teacher at Chanh Nghia Primary School, said: “As the school has a green campus, I have organized many outdoor lessons for students. Being taught and studied in such an environment, both teachers and students are excited about the lessons. The outdoor lessons allow students to experience real-life experiences of connecting people with the environment, and educating them to love nature. Seeing that the children are excited to learn, we are also motivated to have lessons with richer and more diverse content.”

Based on the meaning as well as the achieved results, in the coming time, the provincial Department of Education and Training will continue to direct schools to implement more drastically in building green, clean, and beautiful schools and classrooms to meet the requirements of educational innovation as well as continuously improve the quality of education. Clean, airy space, cool green trees and blooming flowers are positive energy so that "every day at school is a happy day" for teachers and students. At the same time, an educational message is extended in term of raising the awareness of students about protecting the living environment right from the youngest grade levels.

The goal of launching a movement to build green, clean, and beautiful schools and classrooms is to propagate and educate each officer, teacher and student to understand the meaning of creating an environmental landscape, ensuring that the school and classroom are always green and clean on the basis to strengthen the physical foundations, and to create a healthy pedagogical environment to meet the requirements of teaching and learning, and contribute to improving the quality of education.
