Today (April 10), Tan Uyen city under Binh Duong province is officially established under the National Assembly Standing Committee’s Resolution No. 725/ NQ-UBTVQH15, dated February 13, 2023. This is an important political event, a turning point marking the efforts by Tan Uyen town’s entire Party Committee, government and people in overcoming all difficulties over the past time.

With the efforts of the entire Party, the people, the army and the responsibility of the business community, Tan Uyen city has achieved important and comprehensive results in all fields. Within 9 years of making efforts, from a young urban area, Tan Uyen has officially become a city under Binh Duong province.

A glance of Tan Uyen city

Doan Hong Tuoi, Vice-Secretary of Tan Uyen town’s Party Committee, Chairman of the town’s People's Committee said that Tan Uyen has always been at the forefront of Binh Duong province‘s industrialization and modernization. The town’s average economic growth rate is about 12.57%/year, with industrial manufacture reaching the leading growth. The economic structure of Tan Uyen is industrial manufacture, trade - service, and agricultural production with the respective proportions of 64.17% - 34.6% - 1.23%. Tan Uyen currently has two largest VSIP Industrial Park projects in Binh Duong and the whole country, namely VSIP II of 2,045 hectares and VSIP III of more than 1,000 hectares, with total investment expected to be more than VND6.4trillion. Denmark’s Lego Group officially started construction of a factory in VSIP III with total investment of more than USD 1 billion. This is the largest Danish investment project in Vietnam ever.

In order to meet the criteria for city recognition, Tan Uyen increased investment in technical and social infrastructure under the plan, contributing to rapidly changing the local urban image. Tan Uyen’s urban technical infrastructure is increasingly complete towards synchrony, civilization and modernity. The city currently has 55 residential areas, including 25 with 80%-100% of technical infrastructure completed. The percentage of solid and semi-solid houses in the inner-city accounts for 100%, reaching an average floor area of 26.55m2/person. The system of public works is invested and built synchronously and modernly. There is a complete transport system, linking to areas in and out of the province... Besides, road projects with regional connectivity such as belt roads 3, 4, Ho Chi Minh city - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway passing through Tan Uyen area have opened up opportunities to strengthen trade connectivity for Tan Uyen urban area.

In order to improve the quality of people's lives, Tan Uyen not only focused on economic development, but also promoted the local socio-cultural field. The locality also attached special importance to the tasks of “paying debt of gratitude” and taking care of people with difficult circumstances. The grassroots information system well performed propaganda on the Party's guidelines and lines, the State's policies and laws, the local socio-economic development situation among people from all strata. Cultural and sports institutions and 12 relics were upgraded over the past time. So far, Tan Uyen has basically escaped poverty under the province’s poverty line. The local people have felt secure in their labor and production while functional forces have always strictly maintained their combat readiness regimes, strengthen patrols, proactively improve the quality of the task of grasping, forecasting and controlling the situation, reducing crime. The locality’s national defence and security is maintained with a pure and strong political system. The quality of the contingent of cadres and civil servants has been continuously improved.

Mr.Tuoi said that all achievements done by Tan Uyen town over the past time have affirmed the strength of solidarity and unity in the whole Party and political system. That strength is further enhanced when there is consensus of the people, contributing to helping Tan Uyen town overcome all difficulties to reap remarkable achievements, building up a pure and strong Party Committee, especially contributing to developing Tan Uyen into a city under Binh Duong province.

Celebration of town developed into city

These days, returning to Tan Uyen town, everywhere, there is a bustling and excited atmosphere. On every street, at the headquarters of agencies, departments, mass organizations of the town and communes and wards, to residential areas, all of them simultaneously hung national flags, Party flags, banners, slogans... for direct propaganda in celebration of Tan Uyen city and the announcement ceremony of the National Assembly Standing Committee’s Resolution No. 725/ NQ-UBTVQH15 on the establishment of Tan Uyen city under Binh Duong province to be held on April 12 ahead.

To prepare for the announcement ceremony of Tan Uyen town becoming a city under Binh Duong province, Tan Uyen town’s Party Committee has issued Official Letter No. 1322-CV/TU dated March 29, 2023 on strengthening propaganda, ensuring security and order before, during and after the ceremony. Mr. Tuoi said that this is an important political event, a turning point marking the efforts by the local Party, government and people in overcoming difficulties over the past time. Therefore, agencies, departments, communes and wards of the town have strengthened propaganda on the establishment of Tan Uyen city among cadres, civil servants and people from all strata.

Accordingly, the town’s Urban Management Division, Division of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with the Public Works Enterprise and the People's Committees of communes and wards, have tended trees on roads to ensure urban beauty; strengthened environmental sanitation, creating a clean and beautiful scenery of streets and hamlets. The town’s Urban Management Division has cooperated with the town’s Police Agency and the People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen patrols to handle violations of construction order, urban order, trade encroaching on pavements, affecting the local urban traffic and beauty. The town’s police and Military Command have strengthened the task of monitoring and grasping the situation, ensuring political security, social order and safety, traffic safety, and fire and explosion prevention, especially at the time and in the place of the announcement ceremony; monitored and grasped the security situation of workers, the situation of complaints in the area in order to promptly handle them, prevent illegal strikes or mass gatherings at the local Party and State agencies, causing disorder. In addition, the People's Committees of communes and wards have announced and mobilized the local people to fly the national flag from April 11 to 13 to celebrate the local important political event.

On February 13, 2023, the National Assembly Standing Committee agreed to establish Tan Uyen city under Binh Duong province at its 20th session. The National Assembly Standing Committee’s Resolution No. 725/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated February 13, 2023 on "the establishment of Tan Uyen city under Binh Duong province" takes effect from April 10, 2023. Tan Uyen city is established on the basis of the status quo of Tan Uyen town with an area of nearly 192km2, a population of more than 466,000 people, with 12 administrative units, including 10 wards and 2 communes; with the headquarters of the former Tan Uyen. With a special geographical position, Tan Uyen city is an important area of the province in terms of politics, military, economy and culture, society, with favorable conditions in attracting investment in such industries as industrial manufacturing, trade and services. In the city, there is an external transportation system, helping trade and transport goods to the southern provinces and cities. Thanh Phuoc port is the city's first river port, opening up many new opportunities in the field of logistics.
