Building up a smart community, absorbing new generation investment

On the occasion of the Horasis Asia Meeting 2023, the province has organized a special thematic session "Binh Duong - a model for creating a smart community towards investment readiness". This activity aims at further promoting the local strategy of developing Binh Duong Smart City, promoting innovation and industry 4.0, building Binh Duong into a smart, modern city with sustainable development.

In October 2023, ICF officially honored Binh Duong with the title of Smart Community of the Year - Top 1 ICF 2023. Most recently, Binh Duong won the award for Smart City Management and Operation Solution certified by the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association.

Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee emphasized that on the occasion of the 2023 Horasis Asia Meeting continuing to be hosted for the 4th time by Binh Duong, the province has organized special thematic sessions with the hope of sharing useful information with speakers as well as stories about the development strategy of Binh Duong Smart City, promoting innovation and industry 4.0... to create the most favorable conditions, aiming to be ready to attract new generation investors, utilizing knowledge, science and technology, bringing higher added values.

According to Mr. John Jung, Chairman and Co-Founder of the ICF, the achievements that Binh Duong achieved are due to a clear vision and specific goals. Creating a smart community is important and a smart community focuses on people, taking people as the core. Binh Duong is moving in the right direction. Focusing on innovation, converting to modern industry with high added value, investing in infrastructure, social housing, education, healthcare... is the orientation for sustainable and smart community development.

Binh Duong has built up a smart city and achieved initial results, creating motivation for it to confidently develop and build a new generation, high-tech industrial ecosystem, prioritizing the development of education and healthcare, paying attention to community social development such as community-based technology groups, systems of green trees, parks and digital economy... All aim at serving the people, serving community interests and developing Binh Duong into a worth-living place.

Attracting smart investment

From the perspective of a business investing in province-based industrial park, Nguyen Trong Luat, General Director of Cicor Vietnam shared that Circo has been present in Binh Duong for 24 years. “We have just built our 4th factory in Binh Duong with an area of 12,000 square meters. Recently, we have transferred technology from Switzerland to Vietnam. Customers are demanding products more severely, so we are also forced to focus on improving and bringing modern technology into production", said Mr. Luat.

According to the speakers, the shift of the development model to industry - urban - smart services, with the ability to provide 4.0 technology platforms such as IoT, Big Data..., helping investors easily deploy smart factory and production models, contributing to increasing labor productivity within the province...Upon this, the province will aim at developing industrial - urban - service parks in association with science and technology to attract institutions, schools, activities on innovation and development research, services, digital services in order to attract and advance to higher segments in the market of the industrial value chain. This is considered as a comprehensive ecosystem development model for the development of industrial parks, a difference, creating the best added value for investors and people throughout the region.

Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee said that Binh Duong has aimed at converting traditional industrial parks to a smart - ecological industrial park model...which will bring a comprehensive ecosystem for technology and knowledge-intensive activities. New generation industrial parks are expected to play a key role in converting current industrial parks into the smart ones, gradually helping Binh Duong get a solid foundation in science, mastering and creating new production tools based on science and technology, being ready to take on new challenges and opportunities in the digital era, the era of industry 4.0.

Does that place help them do business sustainably? They not only look at geographical location, but also look at the ecosystem, policies of the local government, the supply of high quality human resources... Binh Duong completely shows investors the above mentioned things. Binh Duong is becoming one of the country’s leading localities in attracting investment into industrial parks. So far, many industrial parks have become brands, helping Binh Duong attract lots of large-scale businesses and multinational corporations.
