After controlling the pandemic, returning to the "new normal" state, Binh Duong has immediately focused on restarting construction projects, building up Binh Duong smart city, creating breakthroughs in economic development.

Focusing on restarting projects to build up Binh Duong Smart City, the province has attached special importance to sci-tech development and innovation. According to Nguyen Van Hung, CEO of Becamex IDC, developing a smart city requires three important connection factors, including technology, society, and infrastructure. These connections have a close relationship, contributing to forming up a smart city. Binh Duong Smart City with the desire of building up a new image with methodical planning under the TOD urban model, is a city of science, technology, innovation, a destination of international trade, a place to train and attract hi-quality human resources.

Sharing about Binh Duong's economic recovery plan and development orientation towards smart city, catching up with the fourth industrial revolution, Peter Portheine, Brainport Program Director, former member of Noord Brabant Regional Council in the Netherlands said: “Digital transformation - innovation is the smart key in the post-Covid-19 development process. Technology is not a destination but an important tool to realize economic development goals. Pandemics have always been a key driving force for social transformation. Economic recovery begins with inclusive growth, employment, skills and equity.”

Also according to Peter Portheine, implementing the Smart City - Innovation plan, Binh Duong needs to implement a strategy shifting to a high value-added (manufacture) economy, stronger digital transformation, e-commerce and logistics. Administrative reforms are needed to promote and facilitate economic development, training and improvement of digital skills; promote the cooperation model between the State, enterprises and schools, invest in integrated IT and telecommunications infrastructure with databases, systems and data science considered as important assets for the development of the innovation region.

Promoting cooperation, improving investment efficiency

In order to effectively implement the Smart City project in the "new normal" period, creating a driving force for investment attraction and economic breakthrough, especially in the process of recovery and international integration, Binh Duong has strongly deployed investment cooperation. At the recent online conference with NTT East Group of Japan, provincial People's Committee, Becamex IDC exchanged and discussed the issues of building the Smart City Operation Center; making digital transformation, building e-government, 4.0 technology; deploying community wifi…

Tanabe, General Director of NTTe-Asia, Deputy General Director of NTT EAST Group said: “In 2021, we are making preparations to be able to soon become a strategic shareholder of VNTT. Through this, we will further strengthen cooperation with VNTT, contributing to promoting the construction of infrastructure for the smart city. That is also the group's long-term investment commitment."

Mr.Hung said: “Becamex IDC is setting up a project on developing a sci-tech industrial park. We will devote all our efforts to the construction of Binh Duong Smart City, with focus on further promoting urban development from both hardware and software perspectives.”

Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation: “The Binh Duong Smart City project has achieved many encouraging results, creating a great lever for the local socio-economic development process. Entering the "new normal" period, the province is determined to implement the project under the goal of the 11th provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure.
