During the resistance against French colonialism, the province’s labor movement began with the formation of the Di An Railway Depot Party Cell in January 1930, one of the first cells of the Southern Party Committee. Following this was the struggle of the Dau Tieng rubber plantation workers in late 1932, the general strike of the Lai Thieu ceramic workers and the strike of the Loc Ninh rubber plantation workers in 1935. These strikes were crucial in transforming the labor movement in the province from spontaneous to conscious actions.
Throughout the resistance against colonial and imperial forces, the battlefield in Thu Dau Mot was intense and fierce. Despite sacrifices and hardships, cadres and laborers along with military and people in the province achieved great victories, contributing to the complete liberation of the province, the liberation of the South, and the reunification of the country.
After the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, in order to promptly consolidate, mobilize the local workforce and build the labor movement in the new situation, in early May 1975, provincial Party Committee decided to assign several comrades from the provisional Executive Committee of the Labor Union to swiftly organize and send cadres to districts and towns; consolidate and build the organization from the grassroots and quickly launch emulation movements in production. Together with the Party Committee, government and people of the province, provincial Labor Union urgently strived to overcome the consequences of the war, restore production and compete in labor. These emulation movements such as “Working well, working creatively” were gradually implemented and brought practical results, positively contributing to the local economic and social development.
"In any period, Binh Duong provincial Labor Union has always closely followed the leadership and direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and provincial Party Committee. It has always maintained the spirit of solidarity, worked hard to innovate, be creative, flexible and adapt to the local situation, striving to overcome all difficulties and excellently complete the assigned tasks", Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union said.
Building up a strong working class
Speaking at the get-together, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee, on behalf of provincial leaders, praised and congratulated important achievements and contributions by the Trade Union to the local development.

Mr. Dung emphasized that provincial Trade Unions at all levels have actively innovated their operational contents and methods, achieving significant results in mobilization, propaganda, education, maintaining workers' trust in the leadership of the Party and the State. They have also encouraged workers to be enthusiastic in production and participate in building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises. "This is very important as it creates a favorable investment environment at a time when the province is actively attracting industrial investment, especially in industrial parks, Mr. Dung evaluated.
Mr.Dung suggested that provincial Labor Union should diversify its forms of gathering to attract more workers from all economic sectors, especially from the non-state economic sector; continue innovating the contents and forms of organizing emulation movements in association with the political tasks of the locality and unit to organize effective emulation movements in line with the characteristics of each sector, locality and facility; actively cooperate with all-level authorities to launch emulation movements and effective models, especially the "Civilized Saturday" movement; motivate a large number of trade unionists and workers to exercise their right of ownership and take the lead in emulation movements for socio- economic development.
Simultaneously, it is necessary for the province to focus on improving the operational effectiveness of all-level labor unions activities from public service units; enhance the quality of Trade Union cadres with courage, intelligence and professionalism to meet requirements in the new situation.
