Business community unites, accompanies Binh Duong to overcome difficulties

On the afternoon of October 13, provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee held a get-together on the 76th anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day (October 13, 1945 - October 13, 2021). The event was attended by  Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Pham Van Chanh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council; leaders of a number of departments, sectors and representatives of associations and enterprises in the province.

Respecting achievements

At the get-together, Mr. Loi sincerely thanked province-based enterprises for their valuable contributions to the local Covid-19 prevention and control over the past time. These contributions have helped the control the pandemic. On this occasion, he wanted to hear petitions by enterprises for timely support.

Also at the get-together, Mr. Minh informed delegates of some outstanding results in the local Covid-19 prevention-control and socio-economic development. With the synchronous and drastic participation of all-level authorities, sectors, business community and people's faith, the pandemic in the province has been basically controlled. In the first 9 months of 2021, the province's socio-economic situation still achieved many positive results. The province’s industrial production index increased by 2.93%; total retail sales revenue of goods and services by 1.9%; export turnover by 26.7%, import value by 34% over the same period last year. Especially, the province attracted over US$1.5 billion in FDI capital.

Mr. Minh said that since early October 2021, Binh Duong has gradually eased social distancing measures, reopening socio-economic activities and recovering production-business in the "new normal" state when the pandemic situation was basically under control. The province has been proactive to set up a working group led by provincial People's Committee Chairman. The group has actively met enterprises to remove their difficulties in production-business. The business community has also united, innovated, created and accompanied the local government, employees in order to overcome difficulties together. Province-based enterprises are urgently resuming operations in the "new normal" state. It is expected that about 90% of enterprises in the province will resume operations by the end of October 2021.

Speaking at the get-together, Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of provincial Business Federation spoke highly of the province's support for enterprises during the pandemic period. This has increased faith among enterprises so that they will further invest and develop production in the province. However, according to Mr. Tin, the province needs to pay attention to keeping employees, especially dealing with their housing needs so that they can live and work in peace and contentment for a long attachment here. Similarly, Vu Kieu Nu, Chairwoman of provincial Association for Women Entrepreneurs also said that along with giving care to employees ‘material life, the province also needs more activities to take care of their spiritual life. Especially, the Trade Union must become a solid spiritual mainstay for employees so that they can see that Binh Duong is their second homeland.

Efforts for recovery

Meanwhile, Dien Quang Hiep, Chairman of Binh Duong Furniture Association said that the local government and business community need to immediately and drastically answer a great question on what needs to be done for production recovery. The province needs to create conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises to resume operations while facilitating workers ‘travel to speed up production recovery. In addition, it is necessary for the province to accelerate the establishment of specialized industrial parks for sustainable economic development, promoting the "brand name" of Binh Duong wood.

 

Tran Thanh Trong, Chairman of provincial Electromechanical Association suggested that the province needs to reach unanimity on movement regulations between localities so that workers can move smoothly. The province needs to remove difficulties, welcome workers back to work while being proactive to make isolation plans and carry out vaccination for workers so that enterprises can resume operations as quickly as possible.

At the get-together, Mr. Minh praised and thanked contributions by the business community to the local Covid-19 prevention and control as well as its efforts in production and business recovery. Provincial leaders said that they will continue directing the implementation of Covid-19 prevention-control measures, accompanying the business community and people for timely support solutions. Along with solutions to remove financial difficulties, setting up a loan support program with preferential interest rates for subjects affected by Covid-19 pandemic, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, Binh Duong will continue accompanying enterprises in solving labor difficulties, organizing to pick up workers back to work.

Binh Duong has become one of the country’s major industrial hubs wih enterprises’ competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets continuously improved, along with export and trade - services reaching great development.
