Campaign to kill larvae, make general environmental sanitation launched

Early July 6, provincial Department of Health held a ceremony to launch the 2023 campaign to kill larvae, make general environmental sanitation and disease prevention communication in Di An city.

An overview of the launching ceremony

According to the health sector, since early this year, the province has recorded more than 1,100 cases of dengue fever, more than 1,400 cases of foot-and-mouth disease and 2 deaths, due to foot-and- mouth disease. It is forecasted that from now until year-end, the situation of dengue fever, foot-and-mouth disease will continue developing complicatedly, with the tendency of increasing the number of cases.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of provincial Department of Health said that there is currently no vaccine and specific treatment for dengue fever and foot-and-mouth disease. The best way to prevent them is to kill mosquitoes, larvae and make environmental hygiene. In order to prevent them, it is necessary for the drastic intervention of departments, sectors, mass organizations, localities and each citizen.

Also at the launching ceremony, localities signed a commitment being determined to effectively prevent dengue fever and other diseases with provincial Department of Health.

After the launching ceremony, a parade on propaganda against dengue fever, foot-and-mouth disease and other diseases took place on main roads in Di An city. Provincial Department of Health also organized field trips in wards of the city.
