Caring for trade unionists and workers

Saturday, 04/01/2025

Not only during the Tet holiday, the work of caring for union members and workers, especially workers in difficult circumstances, is always carried out by trade unions at all levels. Many practical, effective activities, focusing on the grassroots, have contributed to strengthening the trust of union members and workers in the trade union organization.

The leaders of the provincial Trade Union regularly care for workers in especially difficult circumstances to support and help them rise up in life

Workers in hardship are cared for

Recently, the provincial Trade Union organized a visit, encouraged and presented support of 10 million VND from the Fund to support workers in especially difficult circumstances and 5 million VND from the support of Vietinbank for 6 cases of cancer. Receiving this support, Ms. Duong Thi H., residing in Hiep An Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, one of the 6 workers who unfortunately suffered from uterine cancer, was very touched. "I am very grateful to the trade unions at all levels for supporting our family," said Ms. H.

Caring for workers in difficulty is not only the responsibility of the trade union organization but also the shared responsibility of the entire political system. Each case of workers in difficulty due to work accidents or serious illnesses is supported by trade unions at all levels. At the grassroots level, businesses and workers are mobilized to share with those in distress. Trade unions at higher levels also allocate funds to take care of these cases. At the provincial level, both the trade union budget and the socialization of the Fund to Support Workers in Particularly Difficult Circumstances are allocated to support and empower workers to have more motivation to overcome difficulties and illnesses, continue to participate in production, and make positive contributions to businesses and localities.

Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan, Standing Member, Head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, assessed that the care for union members and workers of trade unions at all levels in the province has left a clear mark through practical policies and plans, especially the "Fund to support workers in especially difficult circumstances". According to Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan, the provincial leaders highly appreciate this approach because it is highly humane. The mobilization of resources to present "Union shelters" and gifts to workers with serious illnesses and work-related accidents has demonstrated profound humanity; demonstrating the timely cooperation of trade unions with sectors and levels in ensuring social security in the province. This has created more influence to spread the image of the Vietnam Trade Union in the business community and workers.

Many programs to care for Tet

At the grassroots trade unions, such as: provincial Industrial Parks Trade Union, VSIP Trade Union, Textile and Garment Trade Union, Labor Federations of districts and cities in the coming days, many activities will be organized to visit and give gifts to workers in difficult circumstances. According to the plan, for Tet 2025, trade unions at all levels will allocate from the trade union fund to support 1,000 train tickets for workers to return home to celebrate Tet in the Central and Northern provinces. The train departure time is from January 23 to 25, 2025.

At the same time, in order to create conditions for workers in the Southern provinces to return home to celebrate Tet, the Vietnam General Trade Union supports workers in Binh Duong province with 450 train tickets and 80 plane tickets to 2 airports Vinh (Nghe An) and Noi Bai (Hanoi).

According to preliminary statistics from the provincial Trade Union, the provincial People's Committee is interested in allocating local budget resources to support disadvantaged workers to stay during the 2025 Lunar New Year with an amount of about 50 billion VND, equivalent to each cash gift of 1 million VND for about 50,000 disadvantaged workers. At the same time, trade unions and enterprises at all levels will support more than 20,000 Tet gifts for workers; organize "2025 Trade Union Tet Market"; entertainment activities; sports, banh chung and banh tet preparing contests, folk games; organize delegations to wish a happy new year and give gifts to union members and workers in the province. This demonstrates the care and protection of the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, especially on the occasion of Tet 2025 so that every worker can have a happy Tet and is also a way to retain and attract workers.

Tet 2025 is approaching, the provincial Party Committee and provincial People's Committee call on all levels of trade unions, enterprises, and sponsors to focus on taking care of Tet for union members and workers, ensuring that everyone and every family has Tet. "Trade unions at all levels in the province need to closely follow the proposed plans for effective implementation; encourage and remind workers, whether staying or returning home to celebrate Tet, to have a truly peaceful and joyful Tet. In addition to the immediate care, trade union organizations need to advise the province on social security solutions, especially the issue of ensuring jobs and housing; strengthen supervision and social criticism; "Collect and synthesize workers' opinions and recommendations to advise the province on timely decisions, gradually building a civilized, modern and safe living, working, playing and entertaining environment, helping workers feel secure, attached and truly happy when living and working in Binh Duong", Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan, Standing Member, Head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission directed.
