Central delegation extends greetings on Khmer Chol Chnam Thmay festival

On the afternoon of April 6, a central delegation, led by Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, visited and extended greetings to Khmer ethnic people at Tong Kim Quang pagoda in Phu Giao district’s An Binh commune on the occasion of their traditional Chol Chnam Thmay (New Year) festival.

The event was attended by Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Mrs. Hoai congratulated Buddhist monks, nuns, followers and Khmer ethnic people on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay festival. She believed that the local Khmer ethnic dignitaries and people will continue uniting, working together and making many contributions to the district, the province and the country. On this occasion, she wished ethnic Khmer people and dignitaries a joyful and peaceful New Year and a prosperous and happy life.

On this occasion, the delegation also offered flowers and gifts to Tong Kim Quang pagoda; presented 50 gifts from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to 50 typical Khmer ethnic households.

It is known that Phu Giao district is home to 544 Khmer households with 1,688 people, mainly living in the communes of An Binh, Phuoc Hoa, An Thai, Tan Long and Phuoc Vinh. An Binh commune is a place with the most Khmer people.
