Centre recruits second Vietnamese astronaut

A centre was opened at Hanoi’s University of Technology on June 15 to find the second Vietnamese to fly into space. Run by Axe Apollo, the two-day programme is considered a much-awaited competition for young people.At the Axe Apollo centre, candidates have the chance to talk to hero Pham Tuan, the first Vietnamese going into space, and watch impressive Parkour performances.They also have the chance to visit a unique space exhibition, and learn new knowledge of space, the process of training astronauts, and their lives in zero gravity conditions.The competition is open to all Vietnamese citizens, aged 18-35, regardless of gender.To enter the second round of the competition, candidates must meet health conditions and overcome challenges for astronauts.About 100 qualified candidates will experience medical and English tests in July to select the best 15 for the third round.These shortlisted candidates will take part in a TV reality show in October 2013, and the winner will be announced in this TV show.
